upon startin' up DOSBox, everything went fine, until i tried to begin "the elder scrolls 2: daggerfall" (via free download on bethesda's website) . installation went perfectly, but when i tried to start the game it requested a CD. how can i bypass this?

It seems you didn't follow Bethesda installation guide. Post your mountings.

i tried to follow it to the letter, except a small portion regarding alternate sound options.

Maybe you missed the fact that the directory with the CD files uses an uppercase 'D' for its label. Or, maybe just go here.

If you followed the official install instructions, the "wrong CD" error generally happen because of two reasons.

  • You're using an older version of DOSBox than 0.73, the solution is to download the latest release of DOSBox.
  • When you mount the CD in DOSBox, the "-label Daggerfall" part is case sensitive. You must write Daggerfall, not daggerfall or dAGGERFALL or anything else.
