Hi there!

I've been browsing around for a while and can't seem to find the fix to my problem. Whenever I try to fun the full/registered version of Hocus Pocus, I get a message reading "This program must be run under Win32." The shareware version runs fine. I'm using DOSBox.74 on OSX 10.5.8. Any advice?

Thanks! ~megs

I just don't understand why the shareware runs and the complete game doesn't? They're both listed as "supported" on the DOSBox website.

Run it in Windows, see what happens.

Where is that "registered version" from?

you are probably trying to run the installer in dosbox.

If I had a Windows machine, I would.

The registered version is from me buying it from the 3D Realms site ($6, not a big deal).

The download did not include an installer, just Hocus_pocus.exe. The shareware download came with an installer, which I did have to run in dosbox.

Check their specs if they claim it runs on non-windows systems.

Any way your best bet is to use some file extraction tool to unpack
the whole installer (7zip may work).

Did you ever fix this problem? I just downloaded it myself and got the same single file (hocus_pocus.exe). I would love to figure out how to run this game since I legitimately bought it!

Thanks =D

I suspect hocus_pocus.exe is just a windows self-extracting archive... the files inside are normal DOS ones, so just get a windows machine to extract and transfer files to DOSbox

And if legal, it's most likely a rerelease with dosbox included. I think siegler did that before he left apogee
