Ok, I don't know if anyone here can help me out with this, but here goes. I have a Soundblaster PCI 512 and just found out it has a soundblaster 16 emulator for dos. (Running dos-mode in 98) The Shareware Table (Android) works fine, but another one (Enigma) doesn't. The sound keeps skipping beats and stuff. Strangely enough, the gameplay is still perfect though, so all is not lost 😁. I've done everything I can think of to free up memory (which did get it to run in the first place). I have Set up a seperate config.sys & autoexec.bat, & Loaded all the neccecary drivers and such into high memory &lowering the sound quality. I saw something suggesting to only emulate the XMS and not EMS...Anything else I can do? --thx

oh yes, and just to throw something else out here, when I press enter to make the scoreboard go away, It instead leaves the view of the top-half of the table with the scoreboard on the top of the screen. I though that was wierd, especialy since this feature worked properly in dosbox. Yes dosbox, it's too jerky though.

Hmm, I found and old 486 that no one wanted... so I stuck my old sb16 in it and presto! Epic Pinball goodness. The sound quality is better in 98-dos mode on my AMD, but who cares? Perfect gameplay.
I noticed though, that not only was the scoreboard thing not working right in dos-mode, the screen mode was not working properly either. It seems to be a higher resolution on my old system, making the scorboard smaller, and allowing you to see further up the playing field. On the AMD, there's a little flicker of the game before it actualy starts. I'm thinking that it *tries* to do the screen mode the game wants, can't do it, and so tires something else. The gameplay seem to act diffently too because of this, though you wouldn't notice it unless you played the 2 systems side by side.
I wonder if a decicated video card (geeforce) would know how to do the proper screen mode??
& extreme pinball is completely bunk on both system now... --RJ
