It's written very plainly on the SVGATEST card selection screen to choose "Other" if your card is not specifically listed.

That said, the SVGA setup is rather... tedious... at least for the "Other" option. Alternatively you could try machine=svga_et4000 and select that card type in the test program, but not sure if that will spare you the setup tedium.

Using the et4000 setting makes the game fail to enter graphics mode at all (music begins to play and screen text colors change, but no graphics).

Seems to works fine here when loading an appropriate VESA driver for ET4000. I guess it's a bit strange to select the card type and then require VESA anyway, but at least you don't have to go through all the test/calibration stuff.

Works for me with machine=svga_s3, choosing "Other" in SVGATEST, and going through the tests. Also works for me with machine=svga_et4000, loading TLIVESA.COM, choosing "ET4000" in SVGATEST.

Choosing the SVGA type in the install program seems to have problems. You need to mount an A: drive for some reason or the installer can crash DOSBox with an exception; and then the chosen SVGA driver doesn't seem to work. Anyway, I suggest using SVGATEST for choosing the SVGA type, and the installer for changing sound options.

Ah, indeed, thanks for the hint ripsaw. The trick here (after loading TLVESA.COM/TLIVESA.COM) is that the installer suggests a ET4000 driver, which does not work properly (blinking screen). Using the 'Standard' driver works perfectly fine though.
