Hello, I have a problem with my ESS1868F soundcard and hope you can help.
During bootup, it is configured via esscfg.exe to IRQ 5.
When I start windows (drivers for the card are installed) and return to DOS, the config has changed. It uses IRQ11 now and an other DMA etc.

I would rather use a NON-PNP card like an SB16, but because of the hanging notes bug in conjunction with a DB50XG, I switched to the already mentioned ESS1868F card.

I hope somebody can help.
I would also appreciate suggestions for a good non-PNP card without the hanging notes bug.

Either change esscfg.exe to use the same settings as windows or find out how to change the settings from within windows to match the dos settings.

Can't you just let windows think it's a sound blaster compatible installed?

Have you tried setting 'PNP OS installed' to No in the BIOS setup?

The ESS1868 is a soundblaster compatible card.
However, the solution that works for me, was to use an other card. The new one is OPTI-based. This one works well under DOS and windows (also when switching back to DOS).

Thank you all for your answers.
