Why run Doom2 under dosbox anyway? It runs 100% under any OS with the sourceports (legacy, jdoom, boom etc).

Have a look at Vavoom or Prboom (please use Google to find out the exact url) ;these should work under XP ....

It should also run under prboom/vavoom , note that also the 'heretic' wad files work with vavoom,

The idea is that this is a PC/DOS emulator and therefore any program written for DOS will eventually work in it, regardless of whether or not there is a source port. Yeesh. 😒

Yes, it’s my fault.

Doomsday is also another great one. Runs Doom,Doom2, Heretic and Hexen in super fancy graphics. Runs under any OS to my knowledge.

I`d recommend download the Doom64 TC that only works in Doomsday on a side note, if you`d like to see Doom looking even fancier than it already does under Jdoom. Best TC I`ve played in months.

Running DOOM under DOSBox with 12500 cycles (about the highest I can go without sound cracking up) on my P4 3 GHz its like playing it on a 486 33 MHz, ie about 20 fps.

predator: use prboom - compatibility with original .exe demos is very high, virtually all will play.
