I got REAL tired of having "BABY" AT motherboards around. So I FINALLY found a "FULL" AT board with dual cpus! Also, it looks NEW IN BOX! HUZZAH!

its technically a high-speed microcontroller. in this case it adds 4 pci slots. ^.^ the i960 was the first ever pci-pci bridge chip. They were ALWAYS on multi-channel scsi raid cards, as they were EXCELLENT in making the ECC calculations that x86 cpus choked on.

read all about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_i960

from the manual:

The i960 RD I/O processor (IU20) is a highly integrated, intelligent
I/O subsystem on a chip. Mode 3 is the default setting for normal
I2O operation. The i960 RD has two main functions. As a local
processor, it off-loads interrupt-intensive I/O tasks from the host
CPU. Its architecture is composed of a RISC core surrounded by
peripherals essential to the I/O function. The onboard PCI-to-PCI
bridge enables designers to connect I/O components directly to the
PCI bus and to also add additional PCI slots. The bridge improves
overall system performance by reducing bus traffic.

Last week I got lucky on a decent Thermaltake armor case for $45.

On a far away planet reading your posts in the year 10,191.

The P6DGH is a monster board, and you got a great deal IMHO, particularly considering that it was NIB. Definitely one of the most badass AT mainboards ever created. What makes it particularly interesting is that it has two SIMM slots for up to 64MB of cache RAM for its I2O subsystem, though I could never figure out how to get it all working in WinNT. I think it requires special drivers.

I've been running one with a pair of 600MHz P-III chips and 2GB of ECC RAM in a SC-750 enclosure and it's a beast. Just pay close attention to the jumpers when you're configuring it, because it has more than the typical array of settings and the extra PCI bus can chew up some system resources that you might prefer to reserve for other devices.

Just bagged this baby for a STEAL with free shipping. Not as expensive as the previous ones I picked up. 😀

Holy shit that board is a beast.

It's got enough PCI slots but not enough RAM slots. It needs at least 8. 🤣

OEM's sold those AGP V3 3K's in droves, so they aren't that particularly hard to find. That price is in line with what they go for on ebay. If you had paid that for a PCI V3 3K, then you'd really have something as they aren't as easy to get because management was of the opinion that once AGP hit the streets, demand for PCI video cards would dry up especially high end video cards. Here we are half way through 2013 and PCI video cards are still being produced, so that's just one more way that 3dfx management was short sighted. They only produced small volumes of PCI cards when there proved to still be a demand which is why you see people asking anywhere from $60-$80 for them instead of the $7-$15 that AGP cards go for.
