I'm having troubles getting Blood Bowl to run correctly under .61, and from a quick search, it would seem that it -should- be working under .61.
Blood bowl not working!!!!!!!

With a P4 and under XP, with XMS on and installed into c:\blood (both required for the game to operate), I can duplicate the error from above by setting the Eumlated CPU Core to Full. Under Normal, it gives a GRP:Illegal Call 7 error and shuts down. Turning off sound emulation causes the program to not boot at all as well, as it actively attempts to detect a sound blaster system and will not execute without one.

I tried running it with dos4gw as well, but I get a "can't load executable format for file bb.exe" error.

Playing around with the video setting seemed to accomplish absolutely nothing, though there may be some cryptic combination which I just missed.
So, uh, any ideas?

Thanks.

I would also like to run Blood Bowl... but can't get it running either.

I keep getting an error:

Can't load c:\BLOOD\ART\ART.WAD

Real highwater = 330F:4820 (227600 bytes)
XMS highwater = 0
C:\>

That's all I can do...

Well, I got it to run but the sound is very choppy... guess I'll have to mess with that some more.

Could someone post what sound settings they used when running the Install of Blood Bowl?

Thanks!

I'm getting the same xms highwater message, I'd love to get this running so any tips would be appreciated.

I also get the error concerning art.wad. Another board said something (in a long dead thread) about changing the sound settings. So, I tried to access the Setup option in the install menu. However, the game then just freezes with the message 'D:\SOUND\MIDPAK.AD to C:\BLOOD\MIDPAK.AD' in the green 'Installing' window.

You can get round the XMS problem by going to the properties of the BB file, under the Memory tab, and setting XMS to Auto in the pull-down.

However, when you try running the game you get the following message:

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

Blood Bowl

The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.

Cleomedes, they're talking about running the game under DOSBox (http://dosbox.sf.net), not in a "DOS Box".

I have just got the old Blood Bowl game and have done everything right I think with running it through DOSbox except that when I run BB.exe it says 'not installed you must run install.exe and then run from your hard drive. Please can someone give me some detailed help as I'm not great with pcs but really want to play this game. Thanks in advance.

Here your solution peoples (it work for me!).

Blood bowl must be install in c:\blood
Start dosbox in this way : dosbox -c "mount c c:\"
in the dosbox type : cd blood (enter)
in the dosbox type : bb (enter)

The game seems to be very slow but I didn't try to enhanced it for now.

But, if you are a real blood bowl fan (board game), you MUST visit fumbbl.com. This is way better than the dos game and you can play against your friend or enter a "Orca-Cola" league 😀

Have fun!

Wow, thanks a lot!

As you say, it's a little slow. But it works!

Thanks again - I was going out of my mind trying to play it. 😀
