on another pc i installed the games the Same way, with the Same patches.
There both Games Work.

Would probably need to know a lot more about the motherboard/chipset to be sure. You might want to post info from one of those PC spec utilities like Speccy or something.

That said, if it's one of the earlier Unichromes, then it's basically a DirectX 7 graphics chip without hardware T&L, if I understand what I'm reading. This means that dgVoodoo 2.x will not work in any decent manner, nor nGlide. dgVoodoo 1 may work, or you may want to try much older Glide wrappers like OpenGlide or Zeckensack's or otherwise.

But there were DirectX 9 versions of Unichrome chipsets (such as Chrome9) so I think we'd need to know more.

I've run a Test ( DxCaps ) i got from the Author of nglide, and the test says the Card did not support any Shader model.

I tryed dgvoodoo1.50beta2 with NFS2 and set to DirectX 7 , then the Game runs fine !
When i change dgvoodoo to DirectX9 then then i just got a black square in the top left corner, nothing more happens.

BTW, in Dxdiag all Tests for DX7,8 and 9 are Sucessfull.

So, basically, what I said. 😉

Glad to hear one of the older Glide wrappers works for you in this situation. None that work with your graphics chip are updated any more, so it's pretty hit-or-miss whether or not one will work for you. 😀

Since you seem interested in this stuff, you may like this thread going on regarding the earlier Glide wrappers here.

For what it's worth, tests in DXDIAG can pass even when the graphics chip and drivers do not fully support their feature sets in hardware, it's known as "software fallback". Only knowing exactly which graphics chip you have can really determine what features your GPU supports. Or, as you say, a full DxCaps or similar OpenGL report.

Yes, NFS2 works with dgvoodoo, but not NFS3.

NFS3 did not use glide.dll or glide2x.dll
It uses voodoo2a.dll.

On nglide Website there is a Patch for NFS2 which contains a new voodoo2a.dll.
To bad i can't get it working with dgvoodoo.

But there is still direct3d mode, so the game is playable, better than nothing.

BTW: with GeForce 4 Ti4200: dgvoodoo works , nglide not.
This is also a non dx9 card.

Yep. Despite being a really awesome Glide wrapper, nGlide (and dgVoodoo 2.x for that matter) has zero plans to support old graphics cards like that, so that's just the way it is. 😀

You are seriously wrong about NFS3.
Voodooa.dll, the original voodoo2a.dll and the Banshee patch voodoo2a.dll use glide2x.dll. So the game can run with dgvoodoo. Glide3x.dll used only by the Voodoo3 patch voodoo2a.dll but this patch have too many disadvantages (no fog, overbright horizon etc).

Install the game. Install NFS3 Banshee patch. Run the game as nfs3 -voodoo2.
The game starts and plays but crashes in the middle of a race.
Tested with C2D T7500/Nvidia GF9500M/WinXpSp3. Default dgvoodoo settings.

Thank you. The Banshee patch was the missing part.

Now runs with dgvoodoo.

No crash during Race.

But one time it hangs after Race when going back to Main Menu.

Then i set dgvoodoo to 32 bit Color Depth and select a higher Resolution 1280x1024, then there where no Problem when going back to Menu after Race.
