Have you ever noticed that some games seem to age better than others?
For instance, whenever a new tech comes along (FMV cutscenes in games, 3D, etc) the first games to use the technology almost always seem to look unbearably primitive down the line, even if at the time it seemed great.
I'm not fond of most games that have FMV, the acting is usually horrible and video quality is poor. Likewise, certain early 3d games look worse than others.
I personally think the original Diablo and RPGs that use the Infinity Engine look better than very early 3D games. Old school 2D adventure games, as well. Is this just a matter of personal taste, or do the rest of you feel this way?
Generally, I prefer gameplay over graphics but sometimes I like my eye-candy as well. I remember playing an old Intellivision game with a friend that had really primitive graphics but it was a blast to play. I can't recall the name of it, but you each had a fleet of 5 ships (I think) and had to capture the other guys port.
