Hello!

This is my first post here. I bought the game for Christmas to my brother and I'm goddamn embarrassed because I can't get it working. Everybody thinks I'm the computer nerd of this family.

System: WinXP SP1, 32mb GeForce 2, 750MHz Duron

Ok, this is the problem: Game freezes right in the beginning. I double click worms.bat and game starts only to freeze almost right away. In the screen there is a level. The ocean waves few times and then it stops. I cant do anything but press Windows key and shut game down. Then my cdrom drive refuses to open and Worms theme music starts playing. That is without DOSBox.
WITH dosbox I get, after mounting C:\Worms and my cdrom drive with basic mount, a screen which says http://koti.mbnet.fi/~juzzi85/_salaiset_arkistot/1st.png. I wait and wait... nothing happens, I hit s key and I got this screen: http://koti.mbnet.fi/~juzzi85/_salaiset_arkistot/2nd.png.

Could you help me? I refuse to believe that Worms doesn't work WinXP! SP2 is not an option... Too many old games stop working with that. I've also tried compatibility modes and VDMS with no luck.

seem like you have mounted it incorrect.
as it can't find certain files.

Awhile back I backed up my Worms CD to my HD, cracked it and archive it....then lost the CD. My Worms works great in DosBox....dunno if the CD ver works or not.

Dude, Service Pack 2 does not break anything more than Windows XP itself does. If you disable the NX protection, most things that SP2 breaks will probably start working again (self-modifying code is the devil).
That said, SP2 is rather completely irrelevant to this problem.

Try mounting the CD as such:

mount d d:\ -t cdrom -ioctl
