I just installed windows 3.11 without a mouse attached and when I try to install a mouse in windows setup (it might be from somewhere else its late) it asks for the location of OEMSetup.inf but I cant find it I have Dos 6.21 as well, I thought about reinstalling windows this time with the mouse attached but thought it would be good to know if in case I do this again in the future.

Normally, it only asks for oemsetup.inf if you select a mouse driver that does not come with Windows. What type of mouse did you select in the setup?

Did you run Setup from within the Windows directory ?

Use the generic PS/2 or Serial (Depends on your mouse's connection) driver and it should work just fine :3

DerSammler I chose express setup when installing 3.11 so it didnt detect a mouse and it didnt install any type of mouse, Jo22 I installed 3.11 from floppy and I used setup.exe or setup.com from the first floppy there are 9 disks I will look in the Windows dir to see it there is a setup.* to see if it will install a mouse as it sits right now but I have tried going to "Windows Setup" then "change system settings" then change "no mouse" to "install a mouse" and this is where it asks for the location of the mouse files so I tried my C:\Mouse folder it has 3 different mouse executable files ie: ctmouse.exe, mouse.com, bbbmouse.com but Windows does not like them and asks for the location of OEMSetup.inf, Rodoko I have loaded Dos using a mouse like ctmouse but when I run windows it does not transfer over and the mouse is not there.

I think I will just reinstall 3.11 and keep this in mind that a mouse should be connected at the time of install.

You need to run setup.exe from the Windows folder from DOS. Then select a mouse from the list.

Trying to do that from the Windows-based setup will ask for a third-party driver disk. Also, mouse drivers for DOS will not work. You can't use ctmouse.exe and the like for Windows.
