🤣, I've toasted many a piece of electronics while screwing around modifying them. I have an RCA portable VHS VCR, (like the ones that you used with a separate shoulder mounted video camera), and I didn't have the power supply module for it. However, I had the Hitachi model, which was pretty much identical in appearance and function to the RCA model, even with the same connectors. (Hitachi manufactured RCA's video equipment back then) I took that to mean the pinouts were the same, plugged it in, and poof! Made me feel kinda dumb for a while.
I'm slightly more careful with pinouts now. Moral of the story: Just because something looks like it fits and it would make sense for it to work, that is not always the case. Not saying this absolutely won't work, but I'm advising caution.
However, as mentioned above, it is entirely possible that your board is capable of those abilities, they just didn't install the jumpers. It would have been cheaper for them to just create 1 model with the feature disabled than to create 2 completely different PCB masks.
