My intel TC430HX is missing 2 jumper pins on (J10C1D) so i guess it's only compatible with 150 and 166 MHz CPUs. any way to add the missing jumpers so i can use 75, 90, 100, 120, 133, etc.

i guess i can add the missing pins from my Advanced/ATX Thor with broken traces onto the working TC430HX but i'll need soldering knowledge and i don't want to #$%@ up my board so i'm nervous about doing it. i guess i'll practice soldering with my advanced/atx with broken traces and 2 mac LC boards which both died from a leaky PRAM battery.

Those parts are missing for a reason. I wouldn't go adding jumpers to you motherboard if I were you.

That's very... cautious...

Exactly what reason? [strike]It's possible that the VRM is implemented in an inferior way, meaning the the board can't handle the extra power draw of a CPU with 2.5x or 3x multiplier. But it's even more likely that there's no technical difference and that the lack of jumper reflects nothing more than an OEM request or Intel's marketing (pay a few dollars extra for 166/200MHz support)[/strike]
VRM argument is spurious. If it can handle a P233MMX (as the sticker pretty clearly indicates), it can handle the 200 and 166MHz versions too.

Someone confident with adding jumper pins should be capable of looking at the VRM section and seeing whether it's fully populated. If so, it's almost certainly safe to add the jumper pins, if not you need to figure out what is missing and solve that too.

Come on! You are a hacker, aren't you ? 😉

If you are interested in detailed photos of certain parts of motherboard, let me know. I have P200MMX (which is set up as 233) on it.

😒 is it some weird TC430HX that i found, not a normal one. Would it not post if i try to set the jumpers to the p75 config? I first noticed the absence of the jumpers when i was trying my p75 on it.

I see nothing wrong there - your board looks exactly like mine http://hw-museum.cz/mb/47/intel-tc430hx And mine works fine with P233 MMX.

🤣, I've toasted many a piece of electronics while screwing around modifying them. I have an RCA portable VHS VCR, (like the ones that you used with a separate shoulder mounted video camera), and I didn't have the power supply module for it. However, I had the Hitachi model, which was pretty much identical in appearance and function to the RCA model, even with the same connectors. (Hitachi manufactured RCA's video equipment back then) I took that to mean the pinouts were the same, plugged it in, and poof! Made me feel kinda dumb for a while.

I'm slightly more careful with pinouts now. Moral of the story: Just because something looks like it fits and it would make sense for it to work, that is not always the case. Not saying this absolutely won't work, but I'm advising caution.
However, as mentioned above, it is entirely possible that your board is capable of those abilities, they just didn't install the jumpers. It would have been cheaper for them to just create 1 model with the feature disabled than to create 2 completely different PCB masks.

Looks like the jumpers would be simple, just metal pins that solder into the board, but the solder spots are tiny so it would be a bit hard.

i tried the jumper config 2-3, 5,6 J10C1C and 1-2, 4-5 J10C1D just for a test and it showed the 75 mhz without needing to solder on the jumpers
