Unfortunately, I don't think so. I have both Chomper and CXT K6-2s with the same date code: 98/41. So both revisions were in production around this time. But if your piece in question is much older or newer it might be an indicator (though I wouldn't bet my life on it).

What makes it a little easier is that there are system information programs for DOS. Thankfully a DOS drive can easily be booted without having to replace drivers or messing up the OS' stability.

Thank you for the answer, yes to my knowledge speedsys is enough to understand if it is cxt or chomper, how can I read the date code? The 300 afr should be 98/34 right? It should be Chomper then...

A couple of years ago I had Chomper and picked up this tip from the web:

To distinguish between Chomper and Chomper-XT processors read the code on the edge of the ceramic:
26050 is a Chomper core processor,
26351 is a Chomper-XT core processor.

Good catch! Unlucky all my k6-2 are without that code, the only one who has it it the plain k6

That sucks 😉. Maybe, if you are lucky, they stopped adding that code in all later versions of the XT ? AMD chip recognition is a bit of a jungle unfortunately.

Great find! I just looked over my collection and it seems correct for every piece.
(The package code is visible on all of my K6 parts. Phew!)
