Hello,

I recently purchased Unisys CWD 5001-ZA computer. Considering its small size I am looking at purchasing some nice Sound Blaster 16 ISA card with authentic OPL3 chip that will fit in there.

What would be your recommendations?

well it has a 16bit ISA slot and then some space in front of it too, that already opens it up to a huge range of cards... also definitely not the smallest PC ^^

CT2890 might be too tight, but there's so many cards with OPL that would fit... aztech, yamaha ymf7xx etc.
there's even plenty of cards with an onboard wavetable that are not longer than a 16bit ISA slot.

what do you have at your disposal? or are you looking to buy one?

@imi, you right. Yamaha YMF71* caught my attention as they appear to have so many pluses: authentic OPL3, small size and bug free MPU401.

The only ISA sound cards I had that would fit in the 5001 were YMF and ESS cards. None of the big name cards do -- SB, PAS, GUS...

The Pro Audio 16 Basic (essentially a PAS16 without the SCSI CD-ROM interface) looks like it might fit: https://retronn.de/imports/hwgal/hw_sound_car … tech_pas16.html
The PCB measures 18cm long, what's the maximum length the PC can take? It's not an SB16 but does have genuine OPL3, its own 16-bit sound standard and backwards compatibility with SB 2.0.

An AWE64 CT4500 will fit. No real OPL3, however.

The AWE64 Value CT4500's PCB measures 18.2cm long but the PCB is almost touching the bracket. Lining up it and the Pro Audio 16 Basic next to each other, they're exactly the same length.
