I imagine the test program works fine with digital audio too, right?

Frankly, I'm not sure. The test file itself (i mean if the record played on modern computer) is more like some noise. And the test program plays it multiple times. Maybe that's the way it should be... maybe not. Anyways I'm satisfied for now that sound in Doom works.

Have you tried any other games?

Yes. I don't have many games on this machine. Here is what worked with both digital and FM sound:
- Doom 1/2
- Prince of Persia
- Heroes 1 (no music, but maybe it's my version)
- Wolf3D
- Heretic
- ROTT
The latter two did work with digital sound, although in the help file it's written that it was not supported.
Some games did not start: TIM, Raptor, Tyrian, Vikings. Not sure why. Maybe it's not connected with sound. I did not experiment furhter.
EWJ2 - worked, but there was no sound.

Just came to my mind - there are WSS compatible PCMCIA sound cards and there is wssxlat.exe, which is a WSS-SB emulation driver for DOS. Is there a chance that it works with a PCMCIA card?
I understand wssxlat.exe works with realmode games only.

Both cards by NewMedia support WSS SB emulation, you still have the Wavjammer?

Yes, I have it. I meant to make the cards with WSS support work in DOS for digital sound.
wssxlat.exe adds SB support in dos for WSS-only ISA cards. So is there a chance that it will work with pcmcia card?

Bought this card recently. As mentioned above in this topic, this a Windows 3.11 card, but can work in W95 as well.

It can play WAV and MIDI files. Midi synthesis is done by software (V-synth). I attach a couple of samples. There are some errors in the playback, but overall it sounds not too bad, actually. Volume is a bit low in the beginning of first track, sorry for that.

Sony PRD-155SB Discman w/Sound had built-in SB and Adlib support card.

Very cool. I actually just found a copy of the pcmcia card and sound module on eBay. Looks like it might do Sound Blaster sound in DOS according to that doc.

The Readme.txt for the Windows 95 drivers say that it uses a DSP Solutions setup... which is the same company that made the Altec Lansing AMC2000 setup so this is promising

Unable to find the DOS/Win3.1 drivers for this specific device.... but the drivers for the Altec Lansing AMC2000 look like they may just work as the DSP Solutions driver file names seems to be the same model number... MWAHAHAHAHA.

Now to wait for the thing to get here to test it out.

Found a place to download the full manual for free:

And the manual for just the SB-DM155 (the sound module):

I really hope that the Altec Lancing driver set works for this card in DOS / Windows 3.1 as the DOS / Windows 3.1 drivers for it were never available online from what I am finding.

@Bondi (below) - Those are the Japanese Win95 drivers. Here are the English Win95 drivers:

Note: When using the sound module, you must use the PRD-155 drivers.

MAZter, cyclone3d, what a great find!
Hope the drivers fit. Please keep us posted.
Could you upload the Altec Lansing AMC2000 DOS drivers here?
I've seen W95 drives for SB-DM155, guess you have found them already.
Anyways I attach them here as well

Here is the Altec Lansing AMC2000 disk image... had to skip a few unreadable sectors but it should make a valid disk as it is at the very end of the disk and I can copy all the files off sucessfully:

I haven't scanned the manual yet. Once I get that done, I will upload to vogonsdrivers.

unfortunately DSP Solution website files is lost

Speaking of PCMCIA CD-ROM drives with built-in sound - IBM had two models with ESS1688 sound chip.
8X-20X PCMCIA Stereo CD-ROM Drive 1969011
4X PCMCIA Stereo CD-ROM Drive 1969009
They support 16-bit stereo audio for SoundBlaster-compatible applications, FM music synthesizer and a joystick/MIDI port in Windows 95. Sound is not supported in a DOS application within Windows 95.

Hi!
what is the card?
what is "multimedia" mean?

This one took long to answer. It is the interface card for Zenith Z-player - external double speed CD-ROM unit with two built in stereo speakers and ESS based 16-bit sound card (W311 and W95)

Did you get the Sony Sound Box working?

Only the CD drive itself has arrived. Still waiting on the other parts to get here from Canada... Yay for slow shipping.

Edit. I see that one of the Zenith units including the card sold in May and a card with cable sold on July 22.

Guess I just have to keep an eye out.

I asked myself wheter there were MIDI/Game port adapters that would work in Win 2000 or even XP.
Google suggested that there was some Yakumo PCMCIA GAME/MIDI Card and it had W2K drivers. Yakumo was a german OEM company. It's not around anymore. I could not find anything about this card, except for the file names of the drivers. That in turn brought me to another card - Argosy PCMCIA GM-101. Luckily I found the drivers for it. The card looked very familiar and reminded me of EXP GAME/MIDI card.

So I decided to compare the drivers, and they turned out to be the same.
EXP even suggested drivers for Win XP, but I could not download them https://web.archive.org/web/20021101082347/ht … nt=30&Expand=10
But there are good chances that the w2K driver will work in XP.
Here are the drivers I managed to download during my trail. I load them as is, some files are duplicated.
