I don't trust Mobygames as source for 3D acceleration support, must have another source.

Fighter Wing is interesting, but there is no mentioning on the box that it supports it. Also the press release only states it supports the YGV611 chip, while the Tasmania 3D uses the YGV612. I can check it out closer.

Searching around I found a link to Paradise's Tasmania 3D webpage and on it two interesting discoveries:

1. A picture of a Tasmania 3D with what looks to be a pre-production model with the possibility to upgrade the RAM from 2MB to 4MB
cards.gif

2. Announced incoming for WARHAMMER 40,000 Dark Crusaders
https://web.archive.org/web/19970102154023/ht … /paradise3.html

Unfortunately that game was cancelled close to release for unknown reasons
https://www.unseen64.net/2010/04/25/warhammer … s-pc-cancelled/

EDIT: It seems the game have been leaked online and no-one has connected the dots between the different communities (Warhammer 40k and unseen/unreleased/beta scene). It's mindblowing. Appearntly one of the developers released it online, but somehow people thought it was a fan game he made the graphics for in 1993/1994. When downloading the files, they are all from 1996 (also according to his LinkedIn page he worked at Leaping Lizard, the developer between 95 and 96). Also the screenshots matches promo photos from 1996 of Dark Crusaders. I'm installing it now on my DOS rig to check if there is any traces of Tasmania 3D support.

I cannot find any posts on Google Groups to support that these games were ever released. They are not included in any of the for sale ads or atleast not mentioned (you'd think people would not miss out on 3 free games):

Person asking on SU-27 with no replies:

Person claiming that he has never received the extra games:

Also the reviewer at Dimension3D said he was still waiting for the games:

Interesting. Receiving 3D games does not guarantee accelerator support. I was looking at videos of those. Cyberspeed looks like 2.5 D tech. Air Power could stem from the same engine as SU-27. That's why I don't expect more than the generic OpenGL SU-27 uses, which hardly means anything regarding 3d acceleration.

But of course, do not be discouraged by my doubts.

Both Airpower and SU-27 could in theory benefit from the YGV612 chip as the games have quite simple 3D engines, perfect for increasing performance when going from VGA to SVGA.

I had a closer look on the Tank Commander and FX Fighter executables that came bundled with the Tasmania 3D. Both of them contain references to the Yamaha RPA in the .exe's. Tank Commander also has a RPACFG file and a FINDRPA executable. It seems the executable/game must contain code to activate the YGV611/612 chip.

When doing the same inspecting on Warhammer 40k: Dark Crusaders (which is clearly a beta release) I cannot find any references to Yamaha, RPA, TAS3D, Tasmania, or anything similar. It might ofc still be there, but doesn't look promising.

Tried to find PowerVR titles missing on the list but looks like you got most if not all.

I found this NEC site which lists a few games not on your list (debunked or legitimate SGL)
https://web.archive.org/web/19981203121318/ht … wervr/soft.html
Seems to have some iso-2022-jp text issue:

Of interest that have a small (doubtful) chance of not being Direct3D / Extreme:
- Zero Divide: Techno Warrior (Windows 1996)
- Team47 Goman (1997)

Even Less chance:
- Henry Explorers (1997)
- Shadows of the Empire (1996)
- International Rally Championship (1997)
- Battle Arena Toshinden 2 (199?)

Named differently:
- Splash Battle - I think this is the Japanese version of Overboard/Shipwreckers
- Ziggurat - I think this is the Japanese version of Montezuma's Return!
- Earth Winds? - Not sure what this is, Nirgends (related to wind) is listed seperately

Possible support from looking at the NEC site and patches at soggi.org:
- F1 Racing Simulation (1997) - PowerVR "speedup" patch (sounds like a profile) here https://soggi.org/misc/game-patches.htm

It also lists a 3.3 patch for Moto Racer available here(https://soggi.org/misc/game-patches.htm), was that the one you tested? Notes include these commands:
3D hardware
* -3DFX Use 3DFX if available
* -NoPowerVr Disable PowerVr auto-detection
* -OnlyPrimaryDisplay Don't use 2nd 3D hardware display (such as 3Dfx)
* -PowerVr For PowerVr chip if auto-detection fails with a PowerVr chip

Another list:
http://futureworld.amiga32.com/m3dpvr.htm

Of interest:
- Grand Slam (baseball)

I'll try testing these one day if someone doesn't debunk them beforehand.

Tried it, there is no sign of SGL.

Damn, thanks for letting me know. I'll be checking some at the weekend.

Formula 1 RAGE PRO Patch December 24, 1997

** This patch only applies to Formula 1 RAGE PRO with CD ROM part number
180-G3D014-100.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT NOTE: This patch requires version 4.35 or later ATI Windows 95
display drivers.

Use the following procedure to confirm which version of the ATI drivers
that you have installed:

1) Right click on My Computer.
2) Select Display adapters from the Device Manager.
3) View the Properties for the ATI RAGE PRO adapter you have installed.
(Double click on the adapter.)
4) Select the Diagnostics tab from Properties and click OK on the Warning
message.
5) Select Status.
! The S/W Release Version should be listed under Video Card Configuration.

If you do not have v4.35 or later you can download the most recent 3D RAGE
PRO Windows 95 display drivers from:

http://support.atitech.ca/drivers/3drage_pro.html

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT DOES THIS PATCH FIX?

This patch should help in resolving:

- a texture corruption issue when using v4.35 ATI Windows 95 display
drivers and the 3D RAGE PRO version of Formula 1 that was bundled with
the XPERT@Play 4mb/8mb graphics card.
- The Formula 1 version that is bundled with the ATI XPERT@Play 4mb/8mb
graphics card reports a "FATAL ERROR" when the letter of the CD-ROM
drive is higher than F:.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Formula 1 is installed by default into C:\PROGRAM FILES\FORMULA1 unless
you specified a different directory during the games installation.

1) We recommend backing up the Formula program F1ATI.EXE.
(i.e. Rename the file to F1ATI.BAK using Windows Explorer.)
2) Use PKUNZIP, WINZIP or another similar utility to unzip F1ATI.ZIP.
3) Copy the file F1ATI.EXE in your Formula directory. This will
overwrite the original Formula 1 executable.
! You should now be able to run Formula 1.

Have you ever seen a match between Robocops against Terminators? No? Well, now you can play with one of the teams!! The game is better than AS1, but as I said before, the football players seem robots behind the ball. - David

Possible it can be really CGL?

This is to "give face" (Asian slang) to other propriety APIs. Otherwise the list of Glide supported games would make them feel really, really bad. 😜
