Hi everyone !

It seems i'm running into the same problems with a Yamaha YMF754 inside this time a very small and cute Sony PCG-C1VE.
I tried everything we said or experimented before on this post Problems with a YMF754 inside a Toshiba Tecra 8200 but nothing works good this time.

The soundchip is a YMF754-R :

In the BIOS, there is nothing about changing IRQ of the YMF :

Under DOS, if i use the SETUPDS modified for ICH2, or any SETUPDS i have for different southbridges, i have the same result exactly :

The YMF754 is using by default IRQ9 :

The southbridge seems to be an Intel PIIX4E/M :

Any idea what drivers or setupds i should use please ?

Under Windows 98SE, i used some default VDM drivers and it sounded great. Still, i tried these VXD drivers but the sound doesn't works, just a strange noise on the left speaker :

Hi all,

I will try the drivers i found on this other thread :
No sound using Yamaha YMF744/754 VXD drivers under Windows 98SE (Sony PCG-C1XN) (SOLVED !)

Still, under DOS mode it will not be working. I may look on the YMF7x4 thread on Vogons about modifying a SETUPDS.EXE to make it works with my chipset 😒

I don't know what kind of program you are using, but it writes YMF754B and then DS-1S in one line, it's impossible, since DS-1S is YMF744:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_YMF7xx

Did you tried to manually change the IRQ to 5 in Windows?

As for DOS usage I don't really know if the integrated northbridge of the Transmeta Crusoe are capable to do DDMA. Can you give us the full output from PCI.EXE to see which PCI IDs it uses?

Oooh, this system is based on a Transmeta Crusoe CPU? That's a fascinating little processor. 😃 I haven't had the opportunity to play with one myself, but you should definitely hold on to it. It might become even more of a collector's item than it already is.

Hi !
Here is the file.
I hope someone would be able to check if we can have S-IRQ on this chipset to have a DOS working YMF754. That's would be so great on this little and so sexy computer !

That's the PCI output.
As you can see on the pictures, its an YMF 754-R.

Yes they are so cute with their little stereo speakers and so large screen 😉
It would be perfect if i can have DOS sound for the C1VN, it causes no problems at all with the older C1XN models, everything works like a charm !

Try any drivers from archive, maybe at least one work with your laptop:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Hcm5R0TB1ikz … iew?usp=sharing

Before change any parameters, try to just start for Dos with existed to initialize card:

setup.exe /s

if it's not work, than change parameters. Both Dos versions work with any my YMF744-YMF754 laptops

Hi !

I did modify to test severval versions of setupds.exe program, version 3.16, to match the PCI ID of the ISA bridge (Intel) or the northbridge (Transmeta).

I followed this thread :
Yamaha YMF7x4 Guide

and this post:
"Modified the SETUPDS utility so I'm now able to use DDMA mode on a VIA KT133E/686B platform. Used the version on Yamaha's site and modified offset AEC0 and AEC1 from 96 05 to 86 06 (the PCI ID of the "PCI-to-ISA bridge").
Nice guide BTW. 😀"

With these values :

Bus 0 (PCI), Device Number 0, Device Function 0
Vendor 1279h Transmeta Corp
Device 0395h LongRun Northbridge
Command 0006h (Memory Access, BusMaster)
Status 2200h (Received Master Abort, Medium Timing)
Revision 00h, Header Type 80h, Bus Latency Timer 00h
Self test 00h (Self test not supported)
PCI Class Bridge, type PCI to HOST
Subsystem ID 02951279h Unknown
Subsystem Vendor 1279h Transmeta Corp
Address 0 is a Memory Address (0-4GiB) : FC100000h

Bus 0 (PCI), Device Number 7, Device Function 0
Vendor 8086h Intel Corporation
Device 7110h 82371EB/MB PIIX4E/M ISA Bridge
Command 000Fh (I/O Access, Memory Access, BusMaster, Special Cycles)
Status 0280h (Supports Back-To-Back Trans., Medium Timing)
Revision 02h, Header Type 80h, Bus Latency Timer 00h
Self test 00h (Self test not supported)
PCI Class Bridge, type PCI to ISA

But nothing changed, nothing worked as expected 🙁 any clues ?

Hi !

Here is a link to my modified setupds.exe files, 4 of them, if you wish to have a look (with the DS.INI file i used) :
http://jegeek.net/telechargements/drivers/sou … 54_SonyC1VE.zip

Two of them are modified to match the Intel ISA to PCI bridge ID, with a swap between bytes :

Bus 0 (PCI), Device Number 7, Device Function 0
Vendor 8086h Intel Corporation
Device 7110h 82371EB/MB PIIX4E/M ISA Bridge

and the two others ones are modified to match the Transmeta northbridge PCI id :

Bus 0 (PCI), Device Number 0, Device Function 0
Vendor 1279h Transmeta Corp
Device 0395h LongRun Northbridge

Here are the modifications done :
