Hello ! I'm new to this forum and I hope I've posted in the right place.

I have a dedicated PC for retro games, equipped with a Pentium II 300MHz, 192MB Ram, S3Trio 3D, 3dfx Voodoo 1, Sound Blaster 32 PnP and MS-Windows 95 OSR 2.5 operating system.

and I'm trying to run POD Gold and Screamer 2 without checking the CD-Rom every time I want to play.

I tried various patches and I open the [exe] and [dll] files with Resource Hackers in the hope that I would find the line of the code that initiates the CD check but with no result.
I don't know what else to do.

I need something that works for the 3dfx version on both games. ( especially for voodoo 1 )

I also have both games on Steam and GOG. I know I can play them very well on my modern PC, the Steam and GOG versions runs flawlessly.
but I want to run these games on the PC that I built it specifically for retro stuff. 😀

Thank you in advance!

Mind if I bump this? I just cut over the GOG version of POD Gold to my Windows 9x box and deleting the Glide2x.dll file from the POD install directory the game now wants a CD to load.

I want to check it out running on a Voodoo 3 but I have to be able to start the game first...

You can use podhacks for POD Gold, it also redirects CD music to mp3 files and fixes some issues. I haven't checked if it works on Windows 98 / old PCs but if it doesn't you can just mount an iso of the CD.

https://pod.nicode.net/gold/gog/ (Under POD Hooks section).
