Hi

I collect Soundcards since many years and have a faible for the CT1330A so I use it in every classic build 😀

I think I actually have around 10 each and all revisions except Rev.1

All cards are working but I am curious, whats so many Revisions for (7 when Rev1 cards exist) when the early ones also working?
And thats a lot of Revisions for a card from creative that is not that often produced..

And in if anybody have, I´m intrested in Pictures of ealy Rev Cards up to Rev4 both sides with Sticker. Especially Rev.1 or prototype

I like the CT1330A also, it was my first sound card.
I wish I had collected extras but I was too late for that, so I just have the one card.
I looked at mine but I don't see a Revision marking. Where is it marked?

There's a 6 digit number near an edge, one of the numbers (I think it was the last one) is a PCB revision.

It should be on the top after the model number. If it's not there then it might be rev 1 - check the dates on the chips and compare with other Revisions.

Mine seems to match the first card shown here:
http://www.amoretro.de/2015/05/creative-sound … amaha-opl2.html
or for English translation:
https://www-amoretro-de.translate.goog/2015/0 … &_x_tr_pto=wapp

revision seems to be ambiguous. There's no "Rev" marking on the front that the other versions apparently have. Author of the 'amoretro' site believes it's the "final" revision (no number).
My card has the same 069142 marking in one of the corners - so maybe this is the 6 digit number Tiido mentioned.
The PCB has a 0592 date code on it.
The OPL2 chips are socketed - article says some were soldered, I've never seen that in any pictures before.
The OPL2 chips are both dated 9205

It's different from the Rev 6 that was just posted because U1 is different - the chip there (CT1341V301 - dated 9149) is turned in a different orientation. So maybe this is what we're calling Rev 7? It's odd that it doesn't say that anywhere.

The pictures are terrible because I took them through an ESD bag, which I sealed when I moved a few years ago. I can open it if there's something worth seeing but I think this is probably the same card that was posted in that article above.
So I guess the story is that for some strange reason, Creative removed the revision marking on the last version of these cards. Very weird, seems backwards, but the date codes imply this is a late card, not an early one.

I'm curious about that "L" logo in a triangle that appears next to the PCB date code. Is that the PCB manufacturer?

Yes, that is the number. Each revision has its own but I don't remember any details.

Revision (2digits), PCB design date (4digits) i'd recon.
Other date on the back is probably the PCB production date.

Anything above a Sound blaster 1.5 has them.

Interesting. I have the exact same Rev 4 revision card but I don't seem to have the botch wire in the top right corner 🤔

It seems your card has smaller resistor instead. Don't know what is better.

The card without "Rev" but Soundblaster written on it is the last Revision 7
Rev2. have soldered OPL2

the SN on the back counts up over all revisions and maches with also rising PCB dates, so eazy to see, that the card without Rev No. is the latest card

Actually I have Rev 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 so I need Rev1 and Rev3 😀
