As the title states i'm after Yamaha XGStudio for no other reason than the nostalgia factor. I found version 1.0.3-E on Archive.org but it does not have the techno song that i remember from back in the day. The only reference i can find to it is this YouTube video.

Wondering if anyone else on here may know where i can find this elusive version of Yamaha XGStudio with techno.mid included.

That's a great collection while it has XG Mixer though it's not the same version as i've used in the past and seen in the YouTube video. It doesn't has the song called techno after Waltz, it's a different collection of MIDI files. Makes me think there must be another version floating around somewhere.

Did you listen to Techno2xg.mid? I think it's the one you gave the link to.

I didn't actually listen to the song yet no, i was poking around with it on another machine over a remote session so had no audio. I'll double check it though even if it doesn't have the video at least i might have the song. Still going to have to keep hunting it looks like, the video that goes with the song really makes it.

I concur.

The XG Studio application was often bundled with motherboards, like the "Octek Rhino i810S-MCP". If OP was to search for the"YAMAHA XGstudio for Windows.zip" that was bundled with that motherboard, OP might just find it.

OP might also find that that 04Techno.avi and 04Techno.mid are files included inside that bundle AND they might just be what OP is looking for.

Additionally, Techno2xg.mid might actually be identical to 04Techno.mid .

Yeah i did end up checking it out and it is indeed different, i might do some hunting for old motherboard drivers the systems i remember this from were more or less pre built office PCs so it's likely the motherboard drivers are where i will find what i'm looking for.

Have you tried or considered trying to plug "YAMAHA XGstudio for Windows.zip" into a search engine and following the first link ? Believe me, it won't take long to test that out.

If that still is somewhat different from what you're looking for, I sincerely wish you the best of luck on your quest.

There is a game that I remember from decades ago that I cannot identify let alone find (despite seeing many similar ones), so I know the feeling.

I tracked down a newer release of XG Studio as you suggested the one that came provided with the board you mentioned was actually version 2. It has the song i was looking for! But in some sick twisted act of the universe on my XP system that i installed it on it's the single video file that will not play, everything else working just fine. What are the odds...

So you solved my problem darry i think that's worthy of a beer.

For anyone else as crazy as i am looking for this stuff you can find it here https://www.elhvb.com/mobokive/archive/octek/ … oApp/index.html

Thank you. Glad I could help.

Maybe playing the video file with Media Player HC or VLC. Those use their own integrated CODECs. I suspect the Yamaha player does not. If that works, it may be possible to convert the video into something that the Yamaha player can successfully play on your system.

Th video plays in WMP just fine all the other videos included play fine in XGStudio just not the techno one. I'll have to fire it up on some of my older machines (Windows 2K or 98SE) and see if it fairs any better on those. Still much happier than a week ago when i had no XGStudio 😁
