So I picked up an AST Bravo LP 4/50s. I’ve already bought a DX2 66 for it and 16mb of RAM. It only has two ISA slots and it’ll be my DOS machine for more speed sensitive games that wont run on my Pentium 233 or that I just feel like are more appropriate to the 486 nostalgia!
I plan to run DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11. It has MACH32 graphics by ATI built onboard. Is it safe to assume that this will be faster than any ISA card I could add due to the possibility of it having fast than the 8mhz bus speed? I’ve included a link to the PC and also the motherboard info at the bottom of my post.
I would prefer to upgrade it to 2mb of video RAM but all the manual mentions is using 256x16 memory and it looks like 20 pin sockets on the board? Anyone know which specific chips I’m looking for?
I’ve also heard I may need special drivers for DOS games that are 640x480 and up. What the best solution to use when running DOS and windows? Is it something I can just launch only when playing the specific games?
Am I better off sacrificing my only remaining ISA slot for a particular video card? I’d want something less than $50 for sure and would prefer just straight compatibility with any games I may run but also must have Windows 3.11 acceleration.
Thanks for any help fellas!
