Looking at couple of different PCI sound cards.
There is not a lot of information about them online, or at least i didn't find anything definitive.
Figured i should check with the resident experts here.

DX-SC51, based on VIA Tremmor (?) VT1723
(PPA ?) i.CONNECT 8, based on the same VIA chip
Audiotrack Maya 7.1, not sure about what chip powers it
some ESS ES1970 based cards

Any hints will be welcome.
Thanks.

Via Envy 24 are reasonable cards for music audition, for XP -> Vista, maybe w7. Nothing more.

The ES1970 cards are supported on windows 9x/nt, I am not aware drivers for win2k and up. Such cards offer basic eax / a3d / sensaura.

i would skip all of them for practical use.

The VIA Tremor is pre envy24 and only on VT82C686A/VT82C686B/VT8231 southbridges does it support DOS drivers. mostly known as VIA Vinyl. I dont know anything about that version though.
