And jHexen looks much better with High-Res Textures...😀

It´s impossible to this on Duke...the Build Engine does´nt support it!

And BTW, take a look at Quake Tenebrae totally remade and retexturized:

Look at the screenshots...Amazing thing!

It´s the original Quake with Doom III technology!

I have all 3, JDoom, JHexen, and Jheretic.
And they aren't too bad, but I still prefer Legacy Doom.
Especially with FSAA and Anisotropic filtering on.

I have the latest Quake Tenebrae, with the high-res texture pack.

And I also have the superb Quake2 Max, with Toon Shading, and tons of new lighting effects.

Isn't open source a lovely thing ? 😀

Just imagine how many superb older games could do with being Open Source ?

P.S.-Does Tenebrae work OK with you?
I can only get an average 25-30 fps at 640x480...
No FSAA, no anisotropy, of course!
I feel miserable...need another puter!

It was always too unstable on more recent computers.
I was never able to play it fairly in any Windows version.
Both Blood, Duke Nukem or ShadowWarrior crashed sooner or later,...

Very odd, as all of these have been very stable for myself. I actually found "Redneck Rampage" to perform better within Win98. There was a time (way back when) this wasn't true, but those issues went away when my motherboard and soundcard were replaced with different models.

Two things. One is that converting BUILD isn't the same thing as converting the games themselves. DukeNukem seems to stick the closest to the original BUILD engine and should be fairly easily converted (presuming there's a useable BUILD port), whereas "Shadow Warrior" had numerous modifications to the BUILD engine and would require extra effort specifically for that title.

The second thing is that it means that a programmer has to invest the time create a port. That doesn't sound hard, but you know the moment that it becomes public, they'll get flooded by email for specific features. Some, like yourself, will want the effort to put in the "Shadow Warrior" features like "room-over-room";others, like myself, will want concentration to be on BLOOD.

I want my Shadow Warrior and I'm not installing Win9x again to get it!

Then your options are very limited.

You can, just not all that well for most people.

Just jump up to the quick search box at the top of the page and search for "Duke Nukem" and you'll find numerous threads on this. Obviously you can skip the Win9x posts as it works differently on the DOS-based OS's.

Well everyone has their personal preferences and any port that maintains all the features of the original should qualify as "decent".

It uses OpenGL, lots of new lighting effects, and looks superb.

Funny. Sounds like my first description of JDOOM. Other than multiplayer, I find nothing lacking in it. Also has the option of Direct3D for those that have GL "issues".

In the end, "to each his own".

Well, it's like you said. It's basically DOOM3 tech, so you can expect it to be a heavy drain on your system. I get about the same performance.

Sorry, I´m pretty sure I cannot do it...
Spent weeks trying to figure it out, no luck...
Not in Windows XP, compatibility mode or not, they do not work!
Been looking for those threads, where are they?
