leileilol: take it easy. It is nothing more than a guessing game. And those among us who guess it here, are doing it for kicks. Not to be a part of the glory hounds . Who wants to be mentioned in the credits of show. But I do remember when I got my last Retrocore DVD from Yakumo-sama there an electronic voice said "Mr. WolverineDK change to the other DVD". And I thought that was awesomely made by Yakumo-sama , and if it was not WolverineDK, then Yakumo-sama used my real name, which was even more cool". Cause it was my personal DVD version of his show. But I didn't jump up and down because of it , so take it easy.

Oh geeze you guys... ^_^;

I'll let Mr. Basinger know that he should eMail me if he wants to submit an official guess since I post the first three correct people in the credits of the episodes. Only about 10% of the people who watch ADG actually watch all the way to the end of the credits (yes, I actually have access to information like that with Blip.tv) so I'm willing to bet a large number of people aren't even aware of the little guessing game I have going. ;)

Besides, if the show was insanely popular, guesses would pop up over dozens of forums, Twitter feeds, etc., and no one on the face of the planet would be able to control it all. :P

Not to mention, if the guess is wrong and people think it's right... then send in dozens of eMails, well... ;D

I mostly do the guessing game thing to keep people interested and to give them a chance to interact with the series.

Gemini000: at least you understand. That when us members are guessing in thread, it is nothing more than for shits and giggles/kicks/ for fun basically. Cause some of us are extremely laid back. And as you know, Scandinavia and the world has actually gotten me smiling, cause the attitude about a bare naked tit (uncensored baby !) on prime time TV is like "oh well that is lovely, let us take a smoke/beer etc." is the Danish attitude I consider true . But we WARN about people getting killed and and what not instead, except for the bunch of prude channels known Kanal 4, 5 and 6eren and then the TV3 channels. There they censor shits, tit cunt and cock without mercy. Because they are being broadcast to Denmark from UK, which is just ludicrous . So if you ask me, then give me a tit any day of the week, and I will be happy. But people getting shot and blown up on telly uncensored, there is no way in hell I would accept that.

After all, Denmark did legalise porn from 1967 till 1969 (the year of the cock). The Danes are laid back, and we shake our heads in disbelief over the double standardised bullshit, that some other countries are doing.

You know, for someone who is "extremely laid back" you can sure rant pretty strongly about things only marginally related to the conversation! ^_^;

So... let's get off the topics of naked babies, censorship and porn and get back on the topic of DOS gaming awesomeness! ;)

Ancient DOS Games Episode 58 - Traffic Department 2192 is online!

Blip.tv made some changes to their system awhile back, and as such I started uploading files for m4v conversion, but I'm still trying to work out the kinks in having my videos converted automatically instead of doing it myself.

Why do I bring this up? Because the resulting bit-rate of today's episode is MUCH higher than usual, by almost double of the latest episodes and about 50% higher than the target bit-rate I am for, so if anyone has trouble downstreaming it, please let me know and I can reduce the bit-rate and re-upload the new file.

...though not tonight. Storms are approaching and I don't want to be caught with my computers plugged in when they get here. :P

Whoa, my sincere apologies for stating my guess! Last time I'll ever commit such a grievous act in public, hehe. I was aware of the rules in the back of my mind, but yeah, my bad.

Anyways, cool to see TD2192 on the show. I loved the game as a kid, as it was not only cool to shoot things but it was one of the first games I remember actually getting into the story. And it said stuff like "damn" which was amazing to me at the time, haha.

I actually have the Monkey Business boxed version of the game, nothing really special but here are some scans of the package anyways:

How does the name relate to the story? When I think alien invasion I normally wouldn't consider differing views on the use of streets as being a central part of the ensuing conflict.

Also what does the red line signify? In the parts where you were just navigating it didn't seem to pointing at anything in particular.

Storms haven't gotten here yet, so I still have some time to reply to stuff. ;)

Sometimes it feels like you must have every DOS game in existence. ;D

I've had to resort to a lot of freeware in my show to keep my collection from dwindling, since I actually own more console games than commercial PC games and only about half of my PC collection is DOS-based. That said I still have about 30 or 40 commercial DOS titles on-hand which I haven't reviewed yet and will likely obtain more as ADG continues on. :)

BTW: I love how the back of that box says "Challenging fun for the whole family" yet the story is laced with insults and foul language! :D

The backstory of the game is that the Traffic Departments were set up to coordinate the movement of goods and people through the streets, but as the Vultures began attacking skids in the streets the Traffic Department became more and more like a law enforcement agency rather than a traffic coordination system. :P

The line that circles you is either red, green or blue at all times. Red points towards an enemy you need to destroy. Green points towards a friendly target you need to protect. Blue points towards a location you need to fly to in order to progress.

lazygamereviews: if you either have the Danish game Kaptajn Kaper(English name is Privateer but it is NOT Elite http://www.kaptajnkaper.dk/ ) , Skærmtrolden Hugo or Oswald/Super Oswald and or Jungle Dyret Hugo/Jungle Jack. Then I salute you, cause all those games I have mentioned are of Danish (no BS or joke for that matter) origin.

Gemini000: I have just sent a guess for the next game you will review. Good episode today , by the way 😀 Also before I forget it, then what about giving links to an editor of some of the games if available ?

Did you reviewed/shown it recently Clint?

I've talked about it on my channel before, and sometimes the box shows up in the background of my videos, but I've yet to review it.

I wish I did! I have very few Danish games, but one of the few I have is Emotional Pictures' "Cover Girl Strip Poker", which makes up for having very few Danish games overall 😉

Because I am born in Denmark, and I can read Danish, and surprise surprise , it was in the news when she died. And before that I read an earlier wikipedia article on Trine Michelsen(before she died), and there it said (at the time), she had gotten bone cancer. So that is why.

man, this is spooky - I had the exact same reaction when I watched the episode just now, hahah. Never played it back in the day, but i'm sure I saw a recent video review somewhere.

Kind of reminds me of Battlestorm (from Titus), with a bunch of extra elements (and a story) thrown in 😉 Battlestorm even uses a very similar tweaked mode for its 8-way smooth scrolling... I guess having 192 scanlines simplifies calculations a bit, since it divides by 16 or whatever.

@Gemini - a question: what tools do you use to produce the show? especially the opening animation and PC-speaker-style music... both are very well done and a really nice touch.

I first use DOSBox to capture gameplay footage, of course. ;)

Next, I use VirtualDub to convert the caputred footage to 640x480 resolution as best as possible at a framerate of 30 FPS.

Many of the graphics in the show are first drawn up using Deluxe Paint 2E, and then I use Paint Shop Pro to give them their translucency.

I use Audacity for all audio editing, though the sound effects and opening music was all done in QBASIC and recorded with DOSBox. ;D

I made the 3D title sequence using an older version of Truespace, specifically version 5.2, which I've owned for quite awhile. I tried to use Truespace 7 but that program just confuses the heck out of me. x_x;

Granted, that gives me a 24-bit colour animation, so I used PSP's included Animation Shop to reduce the colour depth down to the standard 16-colour EGA palette using error diffusion.

For the actual video editing and rendering, I use Sony Vegas HD, which is the least expensive NLE (non-linear editing) software I could find that does everything I need it to do without bugs or glitches. I seriously tried EVERY free solution for Windows and all of them had issues, so I had to resort to non-free software. Still, Sony Vegas HD is very inexpensive considering how versatile it is but does arbitrary lock out certain features (notably M4V customization settings) unless you buy a more advanced version of the software.

So yeah, there's a LOT of software involved in making a single episode of ADG. ^_^;

Oh, and in Episode 0 and Fillers #3 and #4, you'll hear music I tracked myself using Impulse Tracker. While I've created lots of my own music, very little of it is on the internet. At the moment, the best source for my music is PixelShips Retro, as all 13 music tracks in that game are my own creation. ;)

Ancient DOS Games Episode 59 - Grand Prix Circuit is online!

Little bit of a bonus hint: Next week's episode is also the second-most request game so far!

The most requested game is Duke Nukem 3D, but I want to do Duke Nukem 2 first before I get to that one. :P

And as a matter of interest, the third-most requested game is Tie Fighter. Yeah, not X-Wing. Someone figure THAT one out. ;D

My goodness grace, this is a game I had on my mothers computer back in the day (a copy) that I copied to a diskette from another computer that it had been already installed on, so the copy protection you are talking about. I did not have the pleasure of experiencing. But thank you for this episode 😀 it brought back some pleasant memories 😀 But Grandfather ? Sir, Pole Position came out before this game.. on pc to be exact 😀
