So that is a slot one 1ghz 100fsb coppermine SL4KL.... The rare one!!!

I should buy it then? It's new in box for a very fair price.

Retro Rig: PIII 1Ghz (SL4KL), P3B-F 1.04, Crucial 512Mb, Geforce4 TI4600, SATAII Raptor, AWE64 GOLD, STB Voodoo 2… TBC

Ok... For 40 bucks shipped for a 1ghz 100fsb NIB I ordered it. I wanted the 133 but hell this one is rare and brand new!

Sounds great but how did you uniquely identify it as SL4KL? SL4BR is also a 1000/100 slot 1. There is also the SL5QV which is s370 1000/100.

It very well could be a SL4BR. What's the difference between KL and BR? I imagine one was a retail box and the other OEM. The caution on the box calls for slot-1 mobos... So it's a 1ghz 100 fsb slot 1 Coppermine.

I did good right?

Yes of course. It's the fastest true slot 1 processor made and ideal for 440BX boards.

One left!

It's a SL4BR, which was the OEM version.... But it's new in box! What a find!

Yeah the retail versions had the classic blue box. This is clearly OEM. I am assuming there would be no reason to warn against a S370 cooler fitting. It could be one of those giant passive heatsinks found on slot 1.

Also if you're on a 133mhz slot 1 board, you could grab a powerleap and a 1400S and be happy there too.

The seller is selling more: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Intel-Pentium-III … =item1e9f8d5f66 And yes it's SL4KL.

Update:

Can’t get this system to post! Here is what happens. I get 1 beep followed by 2 beeps (Bad or no display) then, constant rapid beeps (overheated cpu)

Here is what I have tried so far.

Two differnt PSU
Two different GPUs that work (Starting with no GPU results in same issues)
With 1 stick of 256mb that has made a trip in each slot which changes nothing. I tried removing the RAM (All I get is long beeps, which is to be expected)

I have tried to reseat CPU, replaced CMOS battery with new one, manually dropping the FSB to 66 to try and get it to POST. Nothing! I removed the CPU and turned it on and got nothing, which is to be expected. This only components attached are CPU, RAM and GPU and a keyboard and VGA connector.

This could be a bad CPU or Mobo.

Thanks Ebay, looks like I might have to drop serious money into a P3B-F version >=1.03

This retro PC is getting expensive.

I think that's about average price. How many ISA? I think for 2 ISA it's actually quite good.

NIB 1GHz CPU'S!!!!! I'd definitely be getting a nice matching pair if any of my duel boards could handle anything above katmai's.
If your not overclocking the Gateway Tabor motherboards are actually Intel SE440BX-3 boards with standard ATX pinout (Unlike Dell's SE440BX-3 boards)
Obviously being both OEM and Intel there isn't much you can configure but are rock solid

Yeah I agree. I bought 2 from the seller. They'll be assigned to a P2B-D Rev 1.06 D03 board that I found.

P2B-D Rev 1.06 what's the fair price for that? Duel CPUs seems wicked cool!!!!!!! I could order a second CPU and a P2B-D and build it for bragging rights.

However, If I decided to get a P3B-F does it matter if its a 1.03 or 1.04? (I know both support 100fsb coppermine)

I need some help deciding whats a smarter route from my friends on Vogons... My main plan is windows 98SE gaming.

These 1 GHz processors being OEM, are there any downsides? They come with a stock cooler I assume?

I will let you know when it comes it. The NIB that's being sold have a Sl4KL label on them, which was the retail version no oem.... Standby, Ill do an unboxing on Vogons.

I'm not aware of any difference other than coppermine support after 1.03. This is my one stop shop for asus 440bx info: http://homepage.hispeed.ch/rscheidegger/p2b_p … pgrade_faq.html

For ~$90 this is a 2 ISA P3B-F 1.04: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-ISA-6-PCI-SLOTS-TES … =item2a51e42b36

My P2B-D I got from a university recycling bin along with some other motherboards (like a A7N8X deluxe which I love). They were all "open box" status. So I have the box and all of the contents. The P2B-D even has a ASUS C-P2T adapter which let's you run the dual board with one processor. I have no idea what an open box P2B-D 1.06 D03 with C-P2T, manual etc is worth. Probably at least the value of a 2 ISA P3B-F, but maybe more for the value of two cpu slots. That said I probably won't be running the setup anytime soon being happy with my k6-III+.

I keep looking at this one. http://m.ebay.com/itm/141436919069?_trkparms= … 6.c100107.m2460

Does rev 1.04 have the different clock chip like the P3V4X rev 1.03? I believe AUSU changed them and it wasnt popular. From what I've read. Do I really need or want two ISA?

On the two CPU note.

Will two 1 Ghz P3 really impress anyone? I feel the urge to buy one more of those CPUs... But the P2B-D is expensive.... A P3B-F with a 1ghz chip and a nice SLI setup sound really good too. Anyone have any experience to lend me on the debate?

I rub my nipples every time someone builds a dual cpu rig. That said, you must run windows 2000 or xp, if you go dual cpu.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
