Hi Everyone. I don't use this site very often for the shear fact that most of the time DOSBox just simply work! But here is my dilema:
I want to run Windows 3.11 and I've seen the tutorial on setting it up. I'm using DOSBox v0.65 as v0.72 crashes when I try to launch it.
When launching Windows 3.11 after initial installation and after the Windows 3.11 logo loads, I get an error that reads:
Error: unsuported expanded-memory driver. Remove driver from config.sys.
Well, diging back to my DOS experience I editing the config.sys, specifically putting in the line:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
The entire config.sys looks as follows with only the above line added to the file.
FILES=30
BUFFERS=30
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV.EXE /DOUBLE_BUFFER
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\IFSHLP.SYS
STACKS=9,256
The config.sys and Autoexec.bat were created in the root of my DOSBox directory when Windows 3.11 was installed.
In the win311 tutorial I see where, at least in the PC version of DOSBox, there is a file named "dosbox.conf." Doing a search for this file comes up blank.
So with that I would think I would want to edit the dosbox.conf file but it doesn't exist on the Mac apparently.
I also see where they talk specifically about this issue in the tutorial and that it's best to run DOSBox v0.72 but as I stated above, this version crashes upon launching. I've downloaded the file again and again and still it crashes even after trashing the preference file.
Is there a way to turn off EMS in DOSBox for Mac OS X?
