Hi
I am trying to make dosbox use the full screen as opposed to it's default behavior of pillarboxing. I've had some success with the following settings in dosbox 0.74:
fullresolution=1280x720
windowresolution=1280x720
output=ddraw
machine=ega or vgaonly
aspect=true or false
scaler=none
What this gives me is almost widescreen. Meaning there is still some unused space at the very right of the screen. Trying to run a game at ega or vga is impossible though, as I receive the message:
"you must run vesa.com"
Therefore I suspect that what I need to do is change machine back to svga_s3 and make some other changes to the settings that will make dosbox stretch it's default 4:3 screen to 16:9 and thereby fill the entire widescreen. The screen is FHD=1920:1080. Dosbox however cannot make use of more than a fraction of that in full screen, so 1280x720 seems to be the closest I can get to full widescreen at this point in time.
I have heard people making statements that earlier versions of dosbox such as 0.73 and before were able to do what I require, so my problem could also be related to some changes in dosbox that have occured over time. If anyone with success have been able to stretch dosbox to widescreen, so that not only the command prompt in full screen, but also 4:3 games are being stretched to 16:9, then I am eager to hear what they have done.
Sincerely Kasper
