I opened up DosBox v0.74 today and my console was not showing any text, but it can accept commands, I was able to boot up Descent but I couldn't see the game, only hear it. Is there any way to resolve this issue? Thank you!

EDIT: My Specs
ASUS U30JC Laptop
Ingrated Graphics/nVidia 310M Card
Intel Core i3 M 350 2.27 GHz
4 GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit

I can't run it in fullscreen as it is still not showing anything. I did look at your thread and that's the same problem as mine I believe. I did update my graphics card recently, could that be the cause?

Did you try changing output= setting under preferences? Also, look updated drivers for your videocard.

Where do I find my preferences? Also my video cards have been updated to their latest through Intel and nVidia.

EDIT:
Output=overlay
What would I change this to?

Why is output set to overlay in the first place???

on some systems "overlay" seems to show better performance and/or sharper filtering when using scalers (depends on one's preferences anyway). But try "opengl" or "openglnb" and tweak the scaler settings to your desire.

I don't care, the point is that this setting is NOT supposed to be set to overlay in any case after installation.

Alright, Opengl setting for output, causes Dosbox to lock up my computer when launched and I still can't see anything, surface just made the window smaller and I can see the "z:" prompt but I can't see anything I type.

Every time I try updating my nVidia card, the installation fails and doesn't finish. This sucks because now I can no longer play Descent I ='(

If opengl applications crash and graphics card driver installation fails you certainly have a hardware/system problem.

Well as a general rule first check the system for viruses (use a different scanner than your current one) and rootkits.
Then try to get rid of old stuff if possible (including old drivers/services).
Last uninstall the current graphics card driver and reboot, check if the system automatically updates
to some usable driver (if not install the one supplied with your card on CD).

Then check if things are working. If it's still screwed report back, otherwise try the
currently latest graphics card driver.
