Elaborate on what you mean by "no luck". Did you successfully mount the CD? Does the install end in an error?

Does the game have a setup program to set up the sound?
Might the sound settings be contained in a .bat file as opposed to runing the .exe file?

I THINK IM DOING EVERYTHING WRONG, SO LETS START FROM THE TOP>>>>>
MY SYSTEM::::
WINDOWS 7 x64
HARD DRIVE IS PARTITION::
C:\ MAIN DRIVE,,,,WINDOWS, PROGRAMS, BOOT DRIVE,,,ETC
D:\ DRIVE,,,,GAMES, PATCHES,,,ETC
E:\ DRIVE,,,,CD ROM
JOYSTICK,,,,,LOGITECH DUAL ACTION GAME PAD, USB

OK: the dosbox is install in c:\ drive, and no problem there
My real problem is that i need to be taken step by step on how to mount the drivers correctly on my comp, since i try the instructions and no luck there, like how to mount my D:\ drive and the E:\drive, when i try to mound my E:\ drive cdrom it keep telling me that the drive doesnt exist,
so im confused there, then i cant install since my games are from the cd rom, and if i get to install them how to use my hard drive and th cd rom at the same time, usually i use DRIVE D:\ FOR MY GAMES,i also notice that at one time i was able to get to the install part and when it ask me to choose a drive to install, there were no drive or anything to install to, i mean it was blank, so no install posible.
i did manage to install SYSTEM SHOCK, PLEASE DONT ASK ME HOW, I DID IT BY MISTAKE ,CAUSE I DONT REMEMBER HOW I DID IT BUT THE JOYSTICK WASNT PRESENT, NO JOYSTICK AT ALL. THE GAME RAN FINE.
SO, if anybody can guide me step by step i will apreciatted very much. HELPPPPPPP

I have moved this thread to DOSBox General.

juniorjj: Please read the relevant DOSBox guides in the DOSBox Guides section of the forum - they may be of help: DOSBox Guides

Edit: In particular, the "60 seconds" guide has info on mounting CD-ROMs etc.

First, make sure the joystick is working correctly in Windows (look for the Game Controllers tool in the Control Panel). There should be a way to get a test screen with axis and button status. If you can calibrate there, do it.

Second, make sure you're calibrating it properly in your DOSBox game.

Finally, you may need to change the timed= setting in your DOSBox options. I had to set timed=false to get my Logitech gamepad working well with X-Wing.

My joystick is working fine in windows, i even play games in SNS EMULATOR, and works fine, i did calibrated withing the games i try but no luck, but i didnt know about the timer thing you mention, so im going to try that and see if it wioks, but its odd cause i try crusader and the joystick works, but i couldnt use the buttons, and i mean it works is that i was able to move left, right, up, down without any eratic move, so lets try that timer thing and see what happens, THANKS FOR THE SCOOP. I LET YOU KNOW IF IT WORKS.

Hmm you didn't mention before that the axes worked but not the buttons. That is strange. Maybe post here what your current DOSBox joystick settings are.

I dont know if this is what you ask to post but this is what i get from dosbox when i open it, i dont know how to configure the joystick in dos box, so maybe thats the problem, but i configure it within the game and didnt work, it keeps moving all over the place erratically, so what should i do?

Go to the Start Menu in Windows and navigate to All Programs -> DOSBox and then launch DOSBox Options. That's where you configure DOSBox unless you're using a frontend utility.

Ok, i got it, now how or where i configure my joystick buttons, my joystick has 12 buttons that can be use, so question? in order to config each button do i have the choice to simulate each command that each game have, i mean for example::: if im flying an aircraft and i press :c: on my keyboard and i drop chaff, then if i simulate that key on the joystick, will i will be droping chaff? Follow me? but most importantly where an how i config my joystick? first i have to get the sucker to work, it still moves all over the place.

Re-read my earlier post:

I'm not sure if DOSBox lets you map joystick buttons to keys. You might try reading the DOSBox readme and playing with the keyboard mapper.

DOSBox *can* also emulate more advance DOS joysticks with extra buttons (such as CH flightsticks) if your DOS game supports those.

I will try later on with the setting you recomend, i havent try it yet, and i think i saw somewhere that i can remap the joystick keys in the maper section, but only if i can figure out where to do it, see i havent have much time to play with dosbox, thats why i ask lots of questions, i will get this weekend off and dedicate my self to it, but i have gather some knowleged from you so i wont be as lost, THANKS FOR THE TIME AND PATTION, i really apreciated. By the way my gamepad has to sticks, left, right, plus the buttons, WHICH JOYSTICK YOU RECOMMEND I SHOLUD USE IN THE CONFIG BOX?

Here are some options that i found::::::
[joystick]
# joysticktype: Type of joystick to emulate: auto (default), none,
# 2axis (supports two joysticks),
# 4axis (supports one joystick, first joystick used),
# 4axis_2 (supports one joystick, second joystick used),
# fcs (Thrustmaster), ch (CH Flightstick).
# none disables joystick emulation.
# auto chooses emulation depending on real joystick(s).
# (Remember to reset dosbox's mapperfile if you saved it earlier)
# Possible values: auto, 2axis, 4axis, 4axis_2, fcs, ch, none.
# timed: enable timed intervals for axis. Experiment with this option, if your joystick drifts (away).
# autofire: continuously fires as long as you keep the button pressed.
# swap34: swap the 3rd and the 4th axis. can be useful for certain joysticks.
# buttonwrap: enable button wrapping at the number of emulated buttons.

joysticktype=auto
timed=false
autofire=false
swap34=false
buttonwrap=false
SO WHICH ONE SHOULD I USE OR YOU RECOMMEND?

BY THE WAY, DO YOU KNOW HOW TO USE THE MAPER FILE? i look at it the other day but look complicated to me, maybe i need to familiarize with this dosbox thing, and I FINALY GOT THE JOYSTICK TO WORK, I USE YOUR RECOMANDATION ON USING THE "FALSE" IN THE CONFIG, AND WORKS GREAT, THANKS FOR THE SCOOP. IF NOW TO THE MAPPING THING.

I can't recommend which one to use because I've never played Aces of the Deep. Maybe try ch, fcs, then 4axis and decide which works best for you.

I also can't help much with the mapping stuff, as I haven't messed with it much myself because it seemed complicated to me too.

Glad you got your joystick working.
