Hi recently i upgraded to vista but now when i try to play older games i get errors such as is not a valid win 32 application or this system does not support full screen mode. So to fix these problems i downloaded DosBox, once DosBox was installed i tried to install the following games:

  • DUKE NUKEM 3D
    JIMMY WHITES WHIRLDWINE SNOOKER
    REDLINE RACER
    LARA CROFT
    RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Now i can get the snooker to work by doing the following:

  • MOUNT C C:\SNOOKER
    C:\
    C:\SNOOKER

or for duke nukem i open the duke nukem folder & clcik on DUKE3D.CFG DosBox loads with a error but then i just type c:\duke3d & the game loads.

My real problem is that i can't get lara croft or rally championship installed is there anyway of doing this within DosBox & also when i try to load redline racer i do the following steps but the same error always appers

  • MOUNT C C:\PROGRAM FILES\CRITERION STUDIOS\REDLINE RACER
    DIRECTORY C:\PROGRAM DOESN'T EXIST

I have also tried:

  • MOUNT C C:\REDLINE
DRIVE C IS MOUNTED AS LOCAL DIRECTORY C:\REDLINE
    C:\
    C:\REDLINE
    ILLEGAL COMMAND C:\REDLINE

Can anyone pls tell me how to get around these problems...

As Addict stated, quote the path, if it contains space chars:

  • MOUNT C "C:/PROGRAM FILES\CRITERION STUDIOS\REDLINE RACER"

And, you should prefer to install the games from within DOSBox, not in the "windy" OS environment.

I don't think you can. If you could read you probably could... 😢

Oh for f.....

Go into the dosbox.conf and find the lines -

fullresolution=
scaler=
Output=

Toy with those settings. If you set resolution to desktop resolution (like say, 1024x768 if thats what you use) then set Output to "ddraw" it will stretch.

For anything else you might want to read the readme file included with dosbox. It explains all of this. For future reference members here get really uppity if you post about anything thats already been written in there. Sandy vaginas and all that.

Doesn't ALT + Enter do the job?

No, because he seems to have the problem IN fullscreen mode
(ie. non-scaling output mode for whatever reason).

If i press ALT + ENTER i do get fullscreen but only my game is like centered in a box within the middle of the screen... But as avatar_58 stated all i have to do to fix this is to go into the dosbox.conf and find the lines -

fullresolution=
scaler=
Output= ddraw

so i think im sorted for now..... 😀 😀 😀
