So I’ve had some nostalgia with my PII300MHz mATX build.. But now looking for my next more permanent retro build, I will base it on a Via C3 1.2GHz Nehemiah CPU, in a mid tower ATX case. Chose this CPU due the ability to slow down for the DOS games. But also play Win9x games. Also I couldn’t find a 1.4GHz variant for sale anywhere.
I have the following Slot1/Socket370 boards.
Asus P3V 4X (rev 1.02)
MSI MS-6309 (V2.1)
Jetway J-9ZXAN
Gemlight GMB-P6BIAK V0
Which would be the better one to use? Unsure if the last 2 are capable.
If I need a Slocket I have the following: Abit Slocket!!! AB-FC370 and Gigabyte GA-6R7+
If those don’t would the following work? https://www.ebay.com/itm/144810796158
I will be moving my Labway A151-A00 (YMF719E-S) ISA sound card to this PC. I will be getting a Dreamblaster S2 to use with it.
For Sound Blaster 16 I have a Sound Blaster CT4810 PCI, will that work in DOS also?
Otherwise I have the following also, but will need 2nd ISA slot.
CT4500
CT4520
I will be using a Voodoo2 (PCI) for dos/windows Glide, and either a Geforce2 GTS or Riva TNT2 M64..(both AGP) Should I get something beefier?
Finally the MS-6309 mainboard caps look a bit dodge. Will need a recap I guess..
