1 prototype going to hard1k !

Thank you once again, Serge! I'll test it and describe my personal impression once I receive it.

Another question regarding the soundbanks: is there any option of converting soundbanks originally created for SAM9407-based EWS64 (*.94B files) into a format suitable for SAM2655? Or maybe even Creative SoundFonts (*.SF2)?

really nice!
dreamblaster , have you thought about using the lcd driving features of the IC? would be cool to have something like a hack-ish SC-55 showing all sorts of bars and info 😁

Sounds good! Quite impressive for a new €80 wavetable. Does it support any effects though? The examples do sound a bit "dry".
I'd be interested in buying one too. Do you offer these in diy kits? (I like soldering 😀)

@moturimi1 : yes it is the GMBK9764 bank I am using right now. http://www.dream.fr/pdf/Serie2000/Soundbanks/GMBK9764.pdf

Is this MT-32 compatible too? I see the CM-64/32 sfx kit is there but no mention of the normal voices.

^ yes it supports effects, see the datasheet here: http://www.dream.fr/pdf/Serie2000/SAM_Datasheets/SAM2655.pdf , polyphony is 64 without fx and 38 with reverb-chorus- 4band eq and surround.

It sounds really nice to me, didn't notice any dryness tbh

Alright then! I think I may be a bit spoiled by the excessive reverb in Yamaha/Roland synths.

Is there a midi/sysex implementation manual available too? I can't seem to find it. The datasheet also briefly mentions "FM" in the features list... does that mean what I think it means?

And if I may add a demo suggestion, I would like to hear something from Transport Tycoon. I think "Fell apart on me" or "Aliens ate my railway" would make a good demonstration with varied instruments.

@hard1k :
- unfortunately not compatible with .94B files, these are compiled for a different chip. No conversion tool.
- not possible to load or convert .sf2

@keropi :
- Yes, actually I have a basic LCD interface on my board. I did not test it yet.
Maybe to become a standalone module, i should redesign the pcb further, to fit some enclosure.
I focus on the most important first : sound and waveblaster compatibility !

@jwt27:
- midi/sysex implementation manual : Yes, but I will need to check with dream what information I can publish,
for the standard features. (I might add some).
- FM sound : yes it is supported ! but the sound patch needs to be fixed in flash,
not possible to implement an adlib compatible mode 🙁
actually the dreamblaster S1 uses some FM sounds, really I like S1 as a synth too.
- transport tycoon demo : coming up

😲 That has to be the most impressive one so far! Wow!

Wasn't expecting halfway convincing upright bass and guitars, TBQH.

I still have 2 X1's left to go right now (see photo attached, they have the 'limited edition wing').
especially if you like to provide feedback to me, test compatibility with soundcards and games,
do video reviews or promote it online, stuff like that...

Dont worry if you miss those first 2 : I think I will make a small production batch of X1 for you guys.
It will take some time (months) until they are ready and available here : http://www.serdashop.com/DreamblasterX1
What do you think, how many X1's does the world need ?

Let me know if you are interested in the X1 "right now" edition or the X1 production version.

All examples sound muffeled to me, like cut off highs, but that may be due to youtube.
Also the soundbank is a really old bank that reuses the samples we all know from the big dream GM soundset for the dream 9407 chip which wasn't the best choice with its mediocre strings, boring drums and pale winds.
The arrangement of the instruments seems good and quite harmonic, but that's hard to judge from the few examples with few instruments they contained. The reverb sounds as metallic as the one from the 9407 so I wonder if there is any improvement over it.

Interested in the production version, especially if the price goes down a little bit. The Yammy and Roland DB's do sound better to me in the context of these old games, but they're not easy to find or cheap anymore.
