Couldn't resist another retro purchase, this time an Intellivision -
Twas my first console as well. I don't know if you're looking for game suggestions, so I'll limit myself to 5:
-Night Stalker: dread atmosphere made perfect. Ammo depletes and spawns automatically elsewhere, so often in the worst place. If you get far enough, you'll get nasty surprises and then MORE nasty surprises.
-Thunder Castle: another maze action game but get this polished gameplay one for its music.
-Utopia: you'll finally understand what so many people rave about when they talk about the grandfather of real time strategy games. It only works as a 2 player game though.
-Microsurgeon: another strange game that made the Intellivision unique - travel inside a body and dispense antibiotics and others to cure a diseased patient. The hardest levels are fiendish and you're against a brutal clock.
-(so hard to chose a 5th) The Dreadnaught Facror: a shoot EM up with a twist: do several passes to disable a capital ship before it advances too close to bomb Earth, meaning you have to balance disabling canons to make it safe for you, but your real targets are thrusters and reactors.
My dad brought this console home around 83 and it seemed we had like 50 games in no time at all, I always wondered how he managed that...
