A copiously socketed board is never dead Frodo Baggins, a copiously socketed board works precisely when it means to. 🤣

Meaning a full weekend with a can/bottle of contact cleaner and those interdental brushes might get it working again.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

It is pretty "dead" - trust me 😉
It spent few years at the junkyard.... one of tantalum capacitors exploded at first 'run'.
Got it it as a donor...

Creative 3DBlaster GeForce Annihilator - GF256 32MB SDR
Ati Radeon 9600XT 256MB with AC VGA Silencer
Intel 486 DX2 66MHz ES Sk.3
Gigabyte GA-5AX Rev 4.1 - SS7 with mistery K6-2 or (wishful thinking) K6-3. The cooler is stuck firmly and I'll power it up next week to see what's what. 😁 Also it needs a few caps.
Misc. i7-3770K and 6x I5-650 CPUs.

That 486 isn't an ES. It's a production spec.

See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.

Definitely the coolest of my recent acquisitions:

Won auction on eBay for $63 plus shipping. The listing kinda sucked and they just had a single photo, with cooler obscuring the Am486DX4-120 CPU so I took a chance. I am glad I did. The MB is a Pine PT-430. There was also a ridiculous 48MB of RAM installed. I am thinking this was an industrial PC.

Bummer but wondering why they would solder the memory chips but have sockets for so many of the other IC's. Seems a bit odd....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. https://archive.org/details/@horun

Couldn't resist another retro purchase, this time an Intellivision -

Twas my first console as well. I don't know if you're looking for game suggestions, so I'll limit myself to 5:

-Night Stalker: dread atmosphere made perfect. Ammo depletes and spawns automatically elsewhere, so often in the worst place. If you get far enough, you'll get nasty surprises and then MORE nasty surprises.

-Thunder Castle: another maze action game but get this polished gameplay one for its music.

-Utopia: you'll finally understand what so many people rave about when they talk about the grandfather of real time strategy games. It only works as a 2 player game though.

-Microsurgeon: another strange game that made the Intellivision unique - travel inside a body and dispense antibiotics and others to cure a diseased patient. The hardest levels are fiendish and you're against a brutal clock.

-(so hard to chose a 5th) The Dreadnaught Facror: a shoot EM up with a twist: do several passes to disable a capital ship before it advances too close to bomb Earth, meaning you have to balance disabling canons to make it safe for you, but your real targets are thrusters and reactors.

My dad brought this console home around 83 and it seemed we had like 50 games in no time at all, I always wondered how he managed that...

Fresh stuff.

AMD Athlon XP 3200+ AXDA3200DKV4E 😁
ECS K755A with a mistery pink ceramic CPU
Albatron FX5600CP AGP- it needs a cap
No name ISA controller FCC ID ID2-W83757AA / IOW87/78 ver 1.1 - these puppies keep popping up and usually I pick them up. Older motherboards need them as that stuff wasn't integrated back then.
Western Digital PTV-WD3X ver.H1 WD90C31A-LR ISA VGA card 1MB?
GVC Corporation Sound Card Jazz 16 S-16FC/M FCC ID: DK4S-16FCM ISA soundcard - some kind of clone. 😁 Help identifying sound cards

Fun stuff for that when you've recapped it http://www.lejabeach.com/ECS/ez.html I know some of the thunderbirds and morgans could get from grey to very purplish looking ceramic packaging but never heard of an actual pink one.

You are correct BitWrangler. I meant purple. Recapping is on the list. I'm not too worried. 😀 Thanks for the links. A friend of mine use to run the HoneyX OC Bios back in the day and I always wanted to test it out.

How doesn't it work?

Made an offer on an N64 so I can do a shell swap on my current N64 and keep the board in this unit as a spare part.

Cheers for the suggestions. I'd heard of Night Stalker being decent, hadn't heard of the others you listed so that's cool.

I'll probably build up a small collection over time, I've got a few titles in mind also.

Got this Mac Mini A1103 in the mail today. I did not have any PPC machines at all, and I was able to find it at 26 Euro plus shipping.
I really did not have any plans on getting any Mac at all. But this one was cheap, it is small and it have PPC processor.
It is working perfect and almost no scratches. Good condition for it's age. The specs are:

PPC G4 1.42 gigaherz
1 gigabyte Ram
80 HDD
Wireless network card

I plan on installing the older 10.4 Tiger instead of the 10.5 that are installed right now.
I might also try out MorphOS, and there should be an AmigaOS4 bootloader in the wild as well.
And there are MacOS9 images, specifically modded to install on Mac Mini G4.

I have the same machine running the macos9 image on it. It works great except you need to use the external speaker jack for audio. There might be other little things I don't remember too but it seems solid. I dual boot with an OSX version.

Went to a local thrift store again today, picked up a complete Core2Duo tower in an Antec case for $5. I really didn't have a reason to get it, other than it was $5, but the C2D generation of PCs is fun and cheap to tinker with right now, so why not? It has a 500 watt Antec earth watts PSU, what looks like an EVGA GeForce 8600 GT, a D Link wireless card, and I don't know what CPU is in it as I have yet to turn it on.

Check the PSU for bad capacitors. Earthwatts at this age may have some bad capacitors, as evidenced by a computer I repaired for a customer who had this case. The capacitor that was hidden from good airflow ended up bulging and leaking on the top, so I quickly replaced it before returning the computer to them.

Thanks for the tip. I'm getting into the mindset to just recap all of the older hardware I acquire, primarily motherboards and PSUs. Cheap insurance.
