Just looking to see if anyone can give a specific vendor model for this sound card.

So far I'm trying to get it to work in DOS. The test install program seems to work fine, and there is audio output when running the test. But when the config.sys and autoexec.bat are updated and the PC reboots, it says mozart sound card cannot be found. The drivers I used were from this post Help on a Mozart OTI601 soundcard Perhaps I should be trying something else. CS4231-KL under sticker.

Any and all info would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to vogons!

You downloaded the init program for a different revision of the chip, hence it hangs up your machine!

Be sure you have the right tool to initialize the card. There are cards with different chip revisions (at least 3 different) that require different initialization programs.
Take a look at the FAQ here: ftp://soporte.uson.mx/DRIVERS/AUDIO/mozart/AUDFAQ~1.HTM and search for the right program accordingly (can easily be found with any search engine).

Best regards
Fabian

Perfect, that was it. Not only did I not know of the different chip versions, but I didn't come across that site in my searches that had the different driver versions. The "B" drivers worked like a charm. Thanks for your help.

This card has no wavetable, just a Yamaha OPL3.

The OPL4 version of the card looks like this:
http://retronn.de/imports/hwgal/hw_mozart_wav … _with_OPL4.html
Note the OPL4 with the Wavetable ROM chip in the upper left area.

However the Wavetable would only work from within Windows 3.x with this card (not in DOS window of Win 3.x).
In pure DOS you get only the OPL3 portion of the OPL4.

As elianda mentioned, there are two Mozart models, one without (the card from the thread) and one with onboard wavetable. If you are interested in the sound of the wavetable, go to my recordings site and listen:
