Hello, I am asking for advice about some Super Socket 7 builds.

I have 4 of these Super Socket 7 motherboards so I can do various builds. They are like NEW. I think they are system pulls from computers that were never used.
They are in ESD antistatic bags and don't have any signs of use on them.

Purpose: To be able to play as many old games as possible, DOS time machine.
I would like them to perform optimal. I don't want to over load the computer CPU.

I was inspired by Phils build.

But I don't want to use a Roland MT32 & MPU-401 Midi interface as I don’t have one.
Just the sound card. Do I need one ?

Components I have.

I just opened up all the sealed ESD antistatic bags and inspected all the motherboards. They look NEW with no dust or markings or signs of use.
Only one motherboard has bulging caps. It's an easy fix. Not a problem.

If this is your only PC

Video
Voodoo 3 3000 AGP - Good dos compatibility and Glide for Win98, Only Negative is is D3D games

DOS sound
Sound Blaster AWE64 -Basically a SB16 with clean output, As you dont have a Midi device the AWE will give you better midi then the other cards. Possible Negative, not true OPL chip.

Windows Sound
Audigy 2 zs, Better then the Live in every possible way.

HDD
Just go with the seagate for now.

Case, whichever works best

test the system out and work out if it has any weak points. It'll mostly come down to which games your playing and personal preference.
It may be the system runs too fast, or slow in which case you can get the correct CPU for your needs accordingly.
If you play a lot of really early games with adlib the CQM may bother you and you can swap out for the Yamaha card (and loose SB16 and AWE support) or you may not need it at all.

1) Is there a jumper header or BIOS option for setting FSB and multi on any/all of these boards?
2) Do any of these boards support 50mhz FSB?
3) I take it your P233 is a P55C MMX chip?

If the answer to these questions is yes, I'd look at making a Ludicrous Speed Pentium MMX time machine that can be clocked down to around ~100mhz and up to 300mhz with 100mhz FSB. With cache and branch prediction disabling, you'd be able to achieve slow 386DX performance with lots of performance options all the way up to Pentium country.

Do you mean a setup like this video?
