Nope, still totally unstable at 4x, i'm starting to believe that a card meant for agp8x is just unstable on this motherboard.

I was also able to run a GF4 Ti on an AGP 2x slot from an ASUS motherboard without the need to set it to 1x. 😁

It wasn't a VIA chipset though and needed to use older drivers for the nVidia card instead of the lastest one.

Can you try setting it to AGP 1x ? That's what it took to get a Radeon 9700 (8x) on my 440BX (2x) board stable .

It works at 2x, stable, deus ex thought ? it just doesn't behave.

Sadly I don't have this game to help you with that. 🙁

No worries, i might end up creating a thread where i ask someone to test the game on a setup similar to mine, it's not a matter of where to play the game anymore, i wanna know why my PIII and geforce 4 TI can't deal with deus ex in D3d.

I have an AthlonXP rig with a GeForce4 Ti4200 if that works for you. I would need a save game and a screenshot of the issue in order to test out Deus Ex on that rig.

FYI, I ran it briefly when I (re)built that system last year, but I just used it to check the performance and test EAX.

I'll test it out tomorrow and let you know how things went.

I don't have Windows ME though, just Win 98SE and Win 2000.

Thank you a lot! 98SE should be good, it's not that dissimilar from ME.

Ok, I just gave it a try. Loaded your save game and roamed around the level for 10 minutes or so. No freezes or any other issues. I then left the game running for about an hour, came back, and played for 5 more minutes. Everything was still fine.

This was with the Direct3D renderer using my GeForce4 Ti4200 on Windows 98SE + DirectX 7.0a with VIA 4-in-1 drivers v4.43 and Nvidia drivers 45.23. My Deus Ex copy is the retail GOTY version installed from the CD.

Then is the AGP, this system is simply unstable with this GPU in.
