Hi there, im using a legacy system with a p3 1,26 ghz tualatin and just managed to get stuff working again.

I'd like to have more than 4 primary partitions to have loads of os'es boot from their own partition. I know the MBR just got 4 slots. But if im not mislead, the RanishPM should solve this problem by allowing me to create up to 30 primary partitions and i select which of these are written to the 4 mbr slots.

Sadly i found no real guide on how to set this up....
I tried it in a VM but it always forgets all partitions i created but the ones saved to MBR. Shouldn't it keep somehow track of the other partitions, so i can swap their entries from and to MBR slots?

A guide / help / steps / howto would be really appreciated.

Thanks for your time. 😀

Update1:
Got Ranish running on my machine - I forgot to create the special boot manager partition, now the partitions are saved properly.

But when I want to use the boot menu text 25x80 mode, I'm getting a big red box telling Exception 13 - general protection fault.

Anybody got any clues?

Thx.

PC 80x25 VGA Text mode runs at 720×400 and 70Hz vertical. If your monitor or video card cannot do the old DOS modes that could be the reason....or it is actually trying EGA 80×25 640×350 mode ??
What Video card and Monitor are you using ? Otherwise have no clue...

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
