I have a micron millennia pro or pro 2 with a w6li dual pentium pro motherboard. I accidentally botched a bios update, either the wrong file or something went wrong during the flash. Does anyone have the correct bios and know what i would need to do to flash it. The computer boots to a screen that says incorrect bios checksum or something like that. If i have to remove the flash chip does anyone know what equipment i would need to flash the chip directly. I broke the bios a while ago and the computer is currently buried so sorry about the lack of pictures.

Did you flash a rev 02 board with rev 01 bios ?
The rev 01 bios is easy to find but will have to dig a bit to find the rev 02...

added: technically it is a OEM Intel PR440FX motherboard from what I gather...OR a Micronics board:

Need more information !!! 🤣

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I did not even know there was a rev 1 and rev 2 version. I had a very hard time finding any bios updates or information at all. Does it say on the board or how do i find it. If it wont boot past the bios checksum or similar screen is there anyway to do a bios update off a floppy disk or am i looking at programming the flash chip directly. I will dig it out and take a look and add some pictures when i get a chance.

I dug it out from the corner it was buried in. I misremembered what happens when i turn it on. It boots to a black screen and makes 3 beeps repeatedly. I took some pictures of the board attached below. I did not see any rev 1 or rev 2 markings.

Found the manual and other possible BIOS options here:
ftp://ftp.dyu.edu.tw/pub/Hardware/vendor/Diam … ics/PENTPRO/W6/
You probably need to remove the BIOS chip and use a TL866 type programmer...

Any particular recommendations on a programmer. And do you just load the .bin file or whatever format it is into the programmer and then solder the chip back on.

Pretty much first hit with "tl866" on an (in)famous auction site.
Make sure you get one with a lot of adapters included, cause once you have this tool you keep finding uses for it =)

And yea, select chiptype, load rom and hit flash.
Tho there's a ton of options if you wanna get involved.

Alright. Thats definitely something i can do. I will have to order the programmer when i get some spare cash. any chance this is one of those chips that can be programmed in circuit or will i have to desolder it.

There is a method to update the BIOS. You need to create a special loopback parallel port dongle and a crisis diskette. Early in the boot process it checks for the dongle and if it sees one it will flash from the crisis diskette.

Hello vogoners, back in 2000 I had left some messages on sysopt with the procedure to complete a set up on micronics w6-li with win 2k. Today I set up again my trustful micronics. Vive retro computing and long live the 2cpu.
