Can You post what motherboard You have? SiS 5595 is only a chipset. I want to know more about GPU and others things. I do have an ALi mobo with same CPU, maybe I could do some comparision.

What version of q1 was it? Under win? Under dos? Make another few benchmarks tests so I can compare it with my spec (aiming for cpu).

SiS 5595 is just a southbridge I think.
I vaguely remember there was an issue with some SiS S7 chipset with integrated graphics that would effectively cut memory performance in half because the graphics core and CPU shared the same bus or something.

quake 1 320x200 demo1 - 49fps 640x480 11fps
3dbench 2.0 give me 231
shareware doom 1.9 no sound, with 1 frame+health bar, demo3 149fps

Hi thanks, about integrated GPU, like i said, itested a S3 PCI and no difference (in fact the s3 is a little slower than integrated gpu)

May there be some timing issues? Is the cache turned on for sure (cachechk)? Hoe does it respond to only 32or 64 MB ram?

My ss7 testing equipment consists of a Pc Chips M577 (AGPro = mVP3 chipset) and SiS6326 graphics card with 64MB ram.
The board is notoriously slow for a super 7. The graphics are basically the non-integrated version of your chipset.
With some K6-2 @450MHz:
Quake 320: 59,7 fps, 640: 18,5 fps.
Speedsys shows 510 CPU points

I also have a Jetway J-TX98B with SiS 5598 chipset.
With k6-2 @250 (83x3):
Quake 320: 40,4 fps; 640: 8,9 fps
Speedsys:282 CPU points

Get some clk 2 PC133 sdram

Reduce your multiplier than use cpucool to increase your FSB to 133mhz

133x3.5 should “make up” for the glacial memory bandwidth

And if you can get the onboard video to disable a discrete higher end voodoo or GeForce card should make a difference.

PCCHIPS boards were notoriously slow with very few ways to optimize in the bios.

Sadly motherboard look have 66,75, 83 and 100mhz for what i guess, without manual is difficult, i just tested all jumpers

The onboard video is same or faster than all PCI card i tested, a voodoo or a nvidia I dont think will be much faster anyways.

Even if it doesn’t you can’t jumper 133, it needs to be changed using software

I tested the most powerful PCI card i have a Geforce 4MX and i dont see any difference with the integrated SIS, is same, and Fusion dont get any advantage neither with vesa driver. The onboard sis 6326 in fact is very very fast

I dont know any software to change FSB

My mendocino at 333mhz do 19.4fps at 640x480, i really see a big difference from 11.2 i get in K6-2, and Fusion is like half speed the mendocino too

I cant compare since i dont have any K6-2 or K6-3, i just check 686 and other benchmarks that numbers say a K6-2 is no muuchh slower than a P2, but i get like half speed a P2 with my K6-2

Ok edit, i see a demo Final Reality, i check and look a CPU demo

M2 Biostar M5SIB SiS 5598 - 4.5x66 300mhz score 1.88
M5 Soltek SL-54U5 - 3x100 300mhz score 2.72

This is like 1.5 slower, but sadly have different bus speed both benchmarks, anyways, yes, look sis chipset is maybe problem, but still not sure, since FPS is 66 vs 100 in mine

Thanks, i can say in worst case, the SIS board is 1.28 times slower than a good board. Sadly we dont know is because board or just sis dont like much 3dfx card for example

But anyway, even f 1.28 times slower, 11.2fps i get in quake * 1.28 = 14.3

Still slower than 19.6fps the K6-2 450 get in 686 benchmark

Yes hard to say, maybe Quake 1 works differently too.

Quake 3 likes lots of throughput, while Quake 1 is very FPU/Pentium1 focused.

I have also seen the Ali chipset have big issues with 3dfx cards. So that is possible. Although my testing was with Voodoo 3 PCI.

But yes, my 450 get 231 score in 3dbench....

I dont understand why, maybe 3dbench is not reliable anymore for fast CPus
