Hello there.
I bought this XT board out of curiosity (don't have any of those...).
Described as:
"The board POSTS but there is a burned trace between the 2 bottom slots.
Also I've plugged a piezo speaker to the SPK header and I couldn't hear any beeps so I don't know if there's a problem with the speaker connector or not."
Repaired burned trace (+12V probably shorted to ground on last ISA port, and replaced transistor with broken pin).
The seller checked it with CGA, but I don't have one and would prefer to use it with VGA 😉

I've tried it with:
- 100% working VGA (PARADISE PVGA1A-JK 8bit)
- Hercules (not sure if it is OK - don't have such monitor)
- EGA (not sure if it is OK - don't have such monitor)

no matter what I set on "MONITOR SELECTION SW1/5, SW1/6" with all my cards I get :
1 long, 2 short beeps - "Display adapter problem (MDA, CGA) ".

Looks like it's trying to go to boot device there in the pic with the VGA board on, if it's beeping like that it might just be a no monitor connected warning, so anything come on screen if you plug one in?

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I see an issue if trying a VGA card as in the picture, Sw5 and Sw6 need be both off for none, only set those for MDA or CGA. Also Sw7 appears to be in a middle position which could cause some logic issues....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

You may be correct jake on some boards but my two XT's gives errors with a VGA if not set to none, as the main bios appears to use those to set the video before passing to any add-on roms, like a ega/vga.
I wouldn't have mentioned it but OP does not even have a monitor connected in the picture so who know what the screen would show 😀

My bad.... I took the picture with monitor disconnected... 😒
The problem is, the VGA does not initialize and there is nothing on the monitor - no matter what I set on SW 5/6 (yes - monitor cable is connected 😉).
I only have two VGAs that work on 8bit ISA - Pardise and and OTI077 (same behavior).

Great ! never thought it could be a video bios issue. where did you find v3.1 ?

Flashing a new version was a last resort, luckily it was it ! 😉
