The other direction is better as you can easier say when you start to hear something than if you can no longer hear it.

I start hearing at about 15500. I'm on the wrong side of 40.

You can find comfort in knowing your ears are on the good side of 30.

I got my hearing destroyed with tinnitus some years ago. So my hearing is shit, and that is not cool. And no it was not music, that gave me tinnitus. But constant work noise from 8 A.M. til into the evening, not fun at all. Thankfully, I still have hearing left, and the hearing I have is something I cherish, and every time I am at concerts, I have ear plugs. Cause it is important to protect what hearing I have left. Fuck tinnitus !

Somewhere over 15KHz for me, but below 16KHz . I am nearly mid way through my forties . When I was 17-18, I could hear significantly above 20KHz, AFAICR .

Okay, with this one, it's 16300 Hz. 16350 is out of range for me.

One can easily use Audacity (or Audition/CoolEdit) to generate a sine wave at any arbitrary frequency for impromptu tests of this kind .

So let me be perfectly clear to you. Every time I am at concerts I use earplugs, to protect my hearing. The reason why I got tinnitus was because of workers working in the building I live in , whom worked from 08:00 A.M. till evening, and it was at a level of noise, that my ears could not handle. And my hearing was damaged.

According to the youtube test and the one in post #3, my threshold is around 17,100 Hz. Must be uncommon at my age...

Not that I really trust youtube audio compression to preserve much fidelity at higher frequencies.

This is on a basic Creative bluetooth speaker though - I should test on a proper hifi

How often do you concert?

I have not been at concerts since the pandemic. But I really do protect my hearing.

solid 16k, but that's a hereditary birth defect.

Also, Heinrich would like you to know that it's "Hz" or or "Hertz", ffs.

Are we certain that after youtube's magic the frequencies are what they say they are, especially around the ends?
Results are logical but unless someone downloads the stream and verifies it I wouldn't trust it too much.
Also playback is an issue, any equalizer/effect/processing can mess it badly and I'd bet one would get different results on some expensive studio monitors than laptop speakers for example.
