Have a TI 4200 powered Win98 machine that i'm running to a 1080p monitor. The monitor, even when set to aspect mode stretches 4:3 top and bottom to fill the 1080 vertical resolution. I know in the past I could work around this with scaling options but with my current build the drivers I tried didn't have it. Does anyone know what versions had it?

Are you using the card on VGA or DVI?
There are no Win98 nVIDIA drivers with scaling options and, either way, you will want to use drivers 45.23 (or my personal recommendation: 30.82) for best results in terms of speed and game compatibility.

If you are using the card's VGA output, then most monitors that have a VGA input should have an adjustable aspect ratio in their menu. And some monitors have a very good upscaling engine that gives you a sharp image even without having the option of integer scaling.

The 45.23 driver does have scaling options under Win98, but only over DVI.

It works well enough, but there is some blur when upscaling from lower resolutions. I should note that this is with a DVI cable connected directly to a (relatively) period-correct DVI capable monitor. No idea if it would work with DVI to HDMI adapters and such.

DVI to HDMI and I know for sure it had it before

Thank you, Joseph_Joestar! I did not know that (I never use DVI, so that explains it).
I find that the DVI output quality of these early nVIDIA cards is very poor (and it's especially noticeable in DOS / VGA mode).

Yeah, I only use DVI if I'm playing games at my monitor's native resolution (1280x1024) or something close to it like 1280x960. Using upscaled lower resolutions over DVI is too blurry for me, and I switch to VGA in that case, since my monitor accepts both inputs.

The blur over DVI seems to be specific to Nvidia GPUs, from what I can tell. I haven't seen it on ATi cards at least.
