Did you know that Crusader No Remorse and No Regret can mix audio at up to 48KHz? I was digging in Regret's Crusader.cfg file and found "mixrate" 😀. It defaults to 22050 Hz it seems. I upped that to 48000 Hz as that's what my Ensoniq Soundscape can do natively, and WOW does it sound a lot better! Not just the tracker music, but digital audio too.

44.1 KHz should be safe for a SB16 and any other 16-bit card, actually. I just happened to know that Soundscape can do 48KHz so jumped up to that.

DOS Quake also has a nice -sspeed parameter, winquake/glquake and other ports have removed this though

thats great, i should try it with my awe 64 gold at 44.1 khz under real DOS, but 48 khz is not possible with this card i think.
playing both games under dosbox by increasing also the oplrate seems to be worth a try.

I don't think Crusader uses the OPL chip at all. The music is tracker instead of MIDI.
