In what way?

I copied the cd into the dosbox c:\ drive, run dosbox, open the directory for the game and run the exe file, as said everything seems ok bar the colour settings (ie its black and white) other than that everything else seems normal

1) don't use ancient dosbox versions, use 0.72
2) post EXACTLY how you mount and start the game

How you mean exactly how i mount and run the game? i never really had the hang of dos, so if you post or pm what you mean by the above ill sort 😀 ty

Maybe read the guides on the dosbox forum.

Basically you have the game in some directory, say c:\old\mi1,
you mount that with "mount c c:\old", then you start it with
"c:" then "cd mi1" then "monkey" or something like that.

Ok installed 0.72

On my comp i have my dos games in C:\DOS\CDRIVE (these 2 games specifically have just been copied directly from the CD and are in directories as named on the CD) so to mount as a drive i have added

mount C C:\DOS\CDRIVE
C:

to the config file (at the bottom) and have C:\> as my prompt on startup.

The path for monkey island 2 (the exe file) is as follows on my comp...

C:\DOS\CDRIVE\MONKEY2\MONKEY2.exe

So to start the game i open dosbox, type 'cd monkey2' and am left with the following prompt

C:\MONKEY2>

I then type 'MONKEY2 exe'

The game then starts, though still in black and white...

What language is the game?

Start it with "monkey v" or "monkey e" (try "monkey ?" to see the parameters).

It is the uk english version

All above show as illegal commands unfort (btw tyvm for going through this with me...)

Well for monkey2 use "monkey2 e" and so on.
