I wonder if the same config theorically on an older o.s. version would have resulted in an higher or similar result considering how technically fast and capable such GPU is. It is easy to test very old Directx9 card running faster those bench on old o.s. than more powerful gpu running the same app into a modern o.s.
Those 3D apps aren't suppose to run on such modern GPU, drivers, o.s. without I suppose compatibility fix or wrapper logics.

I did run it on dgvoodoo wrapper simulating a 256MB card and I think it scored around 55000.

I suppose because adding a wrapper above what the o.s. already might use to run old API designed apps which in any o.s. after Win 7 (maybe even Vista) I suppose run in a not native way. Win 7 had an easier retrocompatibility in my Directx6/7 tests compared to a Win 8.x config while it can be similar I suppose using the official Compatibility app to run old applications but requires many tests to find why an old game has problems or run at low speed. Sometimes for the missing DirectDraw or the real fullscreen isolated rendering logics. It's not difficult to find games that ran perfectly on old hardware and run slower on more modern configs.

Impressive that the second test in high details still take quite an impact on frame rate... it's still heavy nowdays.. 😁

If me, I say: "Thank very you! 😁".

Hi guys,

I'm wanting to use 3dm2000 for some DX7 card benchmarks, but keep running into the same darned problem. The system is an Asrock 4CordDual-VSTA with a Core 2 Duo E7600 and no matter what I try it just sits in the task manager using 50% CPU. I've tried all the files listed through this thread - replacing the main exe file, the systeminfofc.dll file, running in compatibility mode.. even the ryzen zix file - still at 50%.
Is there a fool-proof setup I can try?

Hello everyone. This thread has been really useful for me so far. I was trying to run good old 3DMark 2000 in my current system and I have overcome most of the issues so far except removing the FPS cap@ 144 fps (monitor runs @ 144Hz). I've run an FPS unlock patch that some member offered here with no results (the program just crashes), so I uninstall the patch and can run the benchmark flawlessly again but limited at 144fps no matter if I disable VSYNC in NVidia global settings and even if I disable it in the app profile as well (3dmark2000.exe). So, I don't know if anybody has any kind of advice or suggestion in order to get rid of the FPS limit, perhaps there is another patch somewhere else to make it work as it should by forcing VSYNC off somehow. I have Windows 11, Ryzen 5900X, RTX 3080 12GB, 32 GB DDR4.

Any suggestions are kindly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yeeesss, it works! Thank you so much, I can finally watch that demo again without having to resort to YouTube. 😀

Funny part: The 6900 XT's fans didn't even bother spinning at all until the "Matrix" parts of the demo started. 😉

Love it!

Edit: And that was with 8xEQ MSAA+SSTAA and 16xAF in 2048×1536 (for the correct aspect ratio).

Got the same issue with JPEG CORRUPT in my PENTIUM PRO system in 3DMARK2000
Game 2 does not work completely.
Ryzen patch did not help with this JPEG error..
Any ideas?

Pentium Pro has no MMX support, right? You might need some type of emulation. There's an old Linux MMX wrapper floating around. You could also try to run the benchmark in Dosbox with MMX support but that would probably be quite a hassle.

None of the patches provided here work for running 3DMark2000 on modern hardware (a dual/multi-core CPU) on a legacy OS such as Windows 2000.

in 2000, there is no Compatibility Mode to make use of, and the patches by themselves don't allow 3dMark2000 to launch.

I'm having the same issue as described here and here (being a similar multi-core CPU motherboard from the same manufacturer and time period) , where upon attempting to launch 3DMark2000, either vanilla or with any of the patches applied ( systeminfofc.dll, mmx fix, Ryzen fix..), it fails to start with no error provided, and the CPU activity is stuck at 50%.

I've tested this on a fresh installation of Windows 2000 SP4, using DX7.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE
ASRock AliveDual-eSATA2
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP
8GB RAM (recognised as 4GB in Win2000)

Have you tried 3DMK2000patch4.zip in this thread? This is the best version which for me seems to just work, on new and old hardware.

I tried all patches separately, 1 through 4, and none of them worked in Windows 2000.

I've done a fresh install of the system today, with Windows XP. 3DMark2000 runs fine without any patches! There is no 50% CPU activity and lock-up when launching the application. I haven't run any full benchmarks yet, but I can get to the main menu dialog box without issue.
