I am. I didn't lower dosbox s main thread s priority, yet.

in the past i said i use higher to fix everything
so you changed it
and it broke everything
so i asked to revert that, only that, to compare
and you didn't

just properly remove that feature, make a build, and i will check that
no other changes, just that one feature, nothing else

K I have a build which does just that (and mouse changes. Nascar should have a much more responsive mouse. )

looks like it doesn't make any difference
anyway some things i noticed:

i turned off antivir stream updates that can make updates even every 3 minutes and they are followed by installer worker and windows update that occupies whole core for a few minutes.

other thing is that
priorities =lower,lower
make games not crush at all

priorities =normal, normal
almost don't crush too

priorities=higher,higher
crushes a lot (in cart racing and whiplash) (especially on 2 cores)

there is also that:
panels on
in whiplash gfx config reduces fps a lot

That's good to know. So you were experiencing random crashes as well.

I need to try this on Sandy Bridge i7/hd 2000. Crashes instantly at startup. I take it framerates are lower with this setting?

What's the cpu load with this, higher or lower? I've got some sleep(0)/yields in there when the threads don't have any work. That should allow other tasks to use the cpu for a scheduling period (tiny amount of time)

I'll make the upscaling mirrors toggleable, but your gpu should be able to handle it without breaking a sweat.

Also in Cr the menus are really slow right? Need to profile that at some point.

makes nascar work in 25fps in win8.1
30fps in win11
and nascar doesn't crush with that
i guess this may also solve tracks loading problems

got 30fps in win11 in cart racing (over 60 with alt+x)

I was wondering why that slowed down all of a sudden. Rlauncher may need profiles for dosbox-rendition. Cfg.
