Ok thanks I realize I should have done this myself but IQ seems to be a sinus wave, it goes up and down... I also ferked up the installation by not backing up my settings, but it seems to work now and I know a little bit more about the device..

After updating it now sounds better, still some noise but it might be a setting in game.

is the above just a straight replace of the Kernel img files, or replace the whole structure on the SD card?

Normally you can just replace the kernel files. If other things should be replaced it's mentioned in the release notes.

new small batch, testing... working fine !!
I will go through the wait list first, and contact people, to ship these early ones
if you are interested in getting boards soon, pm me.
in a few weeks the rest of the batch should be ready.

it seems pretty hard to get hold of pi 3A+ though.
if someone knows where i can find stock, pm me..

I received my MP32L from serdashop yesterday! Very nice to have a single device that can be switched between old, new, and CM roms, to replace my MT32 and (partially working) CM500! The sound font support is a nice feature for a truly compact solution, but I will still use my SC55 for General MIDI.

One issue I had with the hat itself is that the display would not function with the cover attached. It was driving me nuts, but I discovered that one pin was not fully soldered... attaching the cover would press down on the display and cause the pin to shift slightly, breaking contact. A quick resolder job fixed it.

I tried several games and had no issues whatsoever (connected to a PCMIDI card). Even troublesome games like Wing Commander are working great!

Sorry to hear about the soldering mistake, i personally hand assemble and test the OLED, i must have missed this.
I now checked my remaining stock and the rest seems solid. bad luck.

Happy that it works fine.
I received the 3d prints for the latest revision Pi 4 B enclosures today.
So now I have enclosures for both Pi4A and Pi4B.
I assume Pi4B will also fit PI3B (I dont have a pi 3B at hand)

No problem! I'm glad to hear your remaining stock seems fine. It was indeed just some bad luck, maybe it got jumbled around a bit too much during shipping 😀

Final version of MP32L Pi4B enclosure, it is available now,
in red/black and in blue/black colors

Hi dreamblaster. Can you make the STL's for the enclosure available on Thingiverse or somewhere else please? I ordered the MP32L before an enclosure was available and you can't buy it standalone. My design skills are not that great unfortunately.

New printed enclosures ready now.
(If you have an early MP32L, it needs special buttons to fit, pm me if needed)

I could buy a few more PI3A+, but they seem almost everywhere out of stock.
I updated the MP32L page ( https://www.serdashop.com/MP32L ) and for now kept the ready to run Pi3A+ option.
As soon as the pi's are out of stock i will remove this option.

Just received my MP32L today and tested it with an RPI3B and a Zero 2 W. It works, but seems to have some serious issues on my Win10 PC using a cheap USB-MIDI cable: sometimes the sound is "glitching", eg. the sound is badly distorted for a fraction of a second also occasionally the frequency of the output shifts randomly up or down . I experienced this both in MT32 and GM modes with both the RPI3B and the Zero2W. Tested it using multiple power supplies but the issues did not go away. Will test it on my retro Win98 PC also with a classic / DIN midi cable, hopefully that will help. Anyway, if you have any ideas what might be the root cause of the problems I encountered, please let me know!

It must have been my cable - works flawlessly with rtpMIDI 😀

Cheap MIDI USB interfaces are known to cause a ton of issues.

Try reading up on this; if modding it is up your alley you may get it working:

Will you keep going making MP32L if you find alternative pi boards to run these?

Do I need to source the MT32 rom firmware?

Cheers,

Great Northern aka Canada.

Yes, at the moment i am selling MP32L without pi in my webshop, so you need to use your own pi.
Pi3A+ is still available here at the moment, it seems : https://shop.mchobby.be/en/raspberry-pi-3/142 … 2100014251.html
I did buy 2 from them some months ago. I cannot order more qty myself.

Yes this is not provided.
